I have a 2017 Jeep patriot 75th-anniversary model. It has about 18k on it. When I am idling, it has some bad vibration. If I put it in neutral, it will stop. When I'm driving I don't notice any vibration. I have taken it to the dealer and they can't find anything wrong with it. Does anybody have any idea what is going on?

Thanks

It is common for any automatic transmission to vibrate when idling in Drive, e.g. when stopped at a traffic light. There are better technical explanations, but basically the engine is in its least powerful mode while is turning the transmission against the brakes. Probably would be worse if you're running the a/c at the same time. If it goes away in Neutral, that proves my point.

If it is actually a misfire, that's different and should be checked professionally.

PS, Patriot hoods are famous for flapping in the breeze or at idle. My '08 did it its whole life; our '14 not so much.
