I never did do a write up about my middle dome light replacement project. So here it is(for pats without a sun roof), short but effective:

Things you'll need:
- map reading light 1AN73HDAAB is the mopar part number. This is the assembly for the front light.
- 3 ft 16g wire
- wire runner/coat hanger
- tools to remove batter cable
- small screw drivers
- box cutter
- wire trimmer/crimper/stripper tool
- new wire holder/clip - if it is not included with new lamp. (hard to explain, but look at the one on the front map light and you will see the size)
- three of the small metal pieces that slides and locks into the connector.(sorry, I do not know the name)

1. disconnect battery
2. remove front dome light, and middle dome light
3. remove wire holder/clip from assembly.
4. reach in the hole and untape the excess cable so you have more to work with.
5. remove some shielding on new wire.
6. Ok this the fun part- remove the retainer clip that holds the wires in the holder.
7. pull only the yellow wire from holder. It may take a little wiggle and force but not too much. we don't want to break it. secure(in the method of your choice) the new wire to the existing.
8. Replace yellow wire into holder
9. Replace clip.
10. Run wire to back opening
11. Remove clip and wires from the holder that conncected to middle dome light
12. Clamp the little metal pieces (last piece on items list) onto wires.
13. insert all wires into new holder and put clip in.
14. trim opening just enough, maybe even too little to fit the new light. (a template from the front would assist in accuracy)
15. Plug new light in and place into the head liner.
16. Replug and replace front map light into the headliner
17. Reconnect battery
18. Enjoy your new light... the way it should have been from factory... ;)

The only thing I might have done differently would be to extend the wires do that I could have turned the buttons toward the back. But they are still very easily accessible. And it illumines perfectly!

I agree--great write up! As I don't carry too many rear seat passengers, I haven't paid any attention to that center/middle light.

My only questions: How much was the new light ass'y and did your Chrysler dealer have one in stock?
