is there any space between the headliner and the roof or is the material glued directly to the metal?

There is space in there, as it is not glued to the roof. Someone posted pics of their Pat with the interior removed a few months ago that might give you an idea what it is like.

good point, I saw the picture and noticed the roof was clean as if nothing had needed to be scraped off of it.

There is maybe an inch in places.

I had no problem feeding a RCA video cable and power wires for my backup camera above the headliner.

I would say between 3-5 cm, in some places a bit more.

as others stated about an inch,
headliner is not directly atached to the roof, instead attached to spacers between the roof and liner,
if you remove the front sun visors, you ill see,
be careful as spacer easily become loose and a little tricky to get back into place
sounds like your thinking of a project?
care to enlighten us?

I'm going to slide in a digital television antenna for my monitors, not ideal as these anteannas do not pick up a signal easily on the fly but it's what I have for now.
