When I first bought the car 2nd hand the door wouldn’t open a few days after getting it home,

I had a diagnostics guy out, he said the WCM was knocking the key out, he reprogrammed the key and that sorted it,

It’s been fine now for a couple of months but now the door won’t open again, I can get in through the passenger door and the engine starts fine,

This guy wanted £800 to change the WCM - I can tell he’s trying to rip me off, has anyone changed one? Is it straightforward or does any specialist work need doing?

EDIT -

I remember now after it did it last time I read on here it’s usually the door mechanism, so oiled it up, so likely I may need to replace the door solenoid - has that been done by any of you guys?

Unfortunatly if it is related to the opening of the door with the key fob by pushing a button it most likely is the that module it is under the steering column that’s the good news. Bad news is that this tallks to the main computer and they need to sink up for it to work so yes I probably will need to be taken to a dealership to be programmed. If it is the door module you can change it yourself but I am fairly certain you will still need to get it programmed.
