Couple questions about subframe replacement

757 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Tesadorn
I am hoping someone can help me out with a couple questions.
I just finished replacing the rear subframe on my 09 and am wondering how important it is to preload the suspension when torquing everything down. If it is what is the procedure?
Next take a look at the pic and tell me if I am missing a cap and have a problem...(that on the top of the rear diff)
Thanks in advance!

That cap is probably the actual vent. I think only the fdii offroad models got the hose and higher vent. The cap should feel loose and wiggle a little. For preloading the suspension for torqueing the bolts I've always just jacked the suspension up until the body just comes off the jackstand. That's usually enough weight to avoid tearing the bushings.
