Well everything by me is canceled for the next 2-3 weeks including school and work will follow next week. All over something that is 1/100000th of an issue of the regular flu and is to be one of the largest impacts of any virus of all time in terms of economic impact. I think this is a test for the general population as to readiness and preparedness for a larger event - is this the beginning?

In Europe everybody has a health insurance and we have a state income in case of uninployment.
That in combination to the harsch decisions made to fight the virus can make a difference.
In country's where people can't stay at home, don't have a good insurance and deny the risk the outcome will be worse several times.
Even with all the pro's in Europe we gather that 50% of the people will get infected.
Every infected person infected between 2-3 others.
Every 3 days the number of infected people doubles.
Schools, all outdoor activities, sports, bars, restaurants etc etc are closed.
People are ordered to stay home from work.
Even so the contamination number rises sky high.
You don't take it very serious ? Let's talk about it in about half a year from now.

I think this article gives a pretty good explanation of a pandemic: Lifecycle of a Pandemic: Managing COVID-19 Basically the virus will run its course but initially there will be a rapid increase in the number of reported cases. This is what scares people and its where we are now.

Then the numbers will decline. Has anyone heard about the numbers infected in China recently? Only 8 new cases reported: China reports just eight new coronavirus cases Looks to me like its passed its peak there.

I practice common sense hygiene. I try to eat nutritious foods and get enough sleep. God forbid I get it, my body will be in better shape to fight it off.

My first vacation since 1995 is scheduled for the 26th. Flying from Buffalo to Kansas City to visit my best Navy buddy. I have the feeling that I won't be able to go, and I'll end up wasting my time off, which really sucks. Vacation was paid for in January, hopefully I'll at least be able to get my money back.

It was Christmas week, 1998 or 99. I had to use my vacation -- use it or lose it -- and I went to Christmas Eve church and came home with a sore throat. Hmm, I hope I'm not coming down with something. It was the flu and I was in bed for three days. No sooner was I up and around than my Wife came down with it. There went the rest of the vacation. :(

War of the Worlds in reverse. The Martians sent us a virus instead of a monster.

Schools are closed here too, no large gatherings, bars and restaurants shut. We're seeing the same thing in stores, shortened hours, lines to get in, no TP especially. Hope people can keep their cool.

Glad to hear you recovered, did you have shortness of breath?

NH Governor Sununu has closed schools statewide here. Restaurants can only serve take-out. Most churches are cancelling through the end of March..

Grocery stores are open; some department stores have reduced their hours.

I don't understand the toilet paper thing. At some point soon people's houses will be full. I'm surprised stores aren't limiting purchases. I guess that means there is no actual shortage. I heard one store had a separate checkout just for toilet paper customers!

The stores here are limiting people on certain items, but they still empty the shelves. And not just TP.
Rubbing alcohol, peroxide, fresh ground beef, fresh chicken, flour, eggs, other stuff all gone.

Ration cards/stamps up next?

Whatever it is, somebody better get a handle and some leadership on it. You just can't have everyone go home and stay inside. Some people just can't afford that due to various reasons. Business is going crap up with people losing a lot of retirement cash in the market. I liken the current environment to a runaway train...how the train will stop🤔??
