Awhile back I had 1/2" round solid steel welded to the bottom of my front control arms along the bottom edge, kinda boxed them in to strengthen them. I am hoping this might help the bushings last longer as the control arms shouldn't flex like before. Very Poor Design. It may help and may not but I did it anyway. I believe another Member of this Forum did the same, I think.

I couldn't agree more. Last time I checked my ball joints, I was watching the whole control arm twist as I pried the joint. I had found the Lancer and Outlander control arms look almost identical except they were reinforced from the factory but I never did get measurements. I had a whole post with pictures and everything.
