I was under the assumption that the gear ratios were the same for the 2007 thru 2010's

I was driving a friends 2007 compass 5 speed and noticed that with the cruise set at 65 his rpms were at 2800, where as my 2009 patriot 5 speed sits at 2400 rpms at 65... (Both vehicles have 215/60/17's)

Both speedo's were verified by GPS and they were both really going 65mph..

Just curious as my buddy just got his compass and wanted to make sure nothing is wrong with it...

Does he have 5MT?

The final drive ratios for the Jeep are given in the sales brochure. Maybe they are in a Compass brochure.

2007 and early 2008 5-spds had a different 5th gear ratio between 2WD and 4WD. 0.72:1 for 2WD vs. 0.81:1 for 4WD. Sometime during mid to late 2008 model year, the 4WD got the same 5th gear ratio which sticks through today. This was true for Compass and Patriot.

Would you ever consider installing some good gear sets that alloy usa and other branded parts that can be a good solution on that one. I'm sure that things will go well if you did that one.
