  1. Maintenance
Tried doing an oil change on my 08 pat. Previous oil change was at a Valvoline instant place and they tightened everything way too much. Tried lots of different methods but resorted to the screwdriver through the side method which ended up completely destroying the filter. And ideas on how to...

I just changed out my oil and transfer case fluid - but for whatever reason, the oil change alert comes up on the dash ever since I did. Checked oil, looks good on dipstick. No leaks, oil filter's screwed on tight enough. What gives?

Hello everyone, Had to change the oil for the first time on our 2014 Jeep Patriot. Made a video of all of the steps if you have never done it before. Hope this helps and definitely ask any questions. Andrew

I have a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The last three times I had a scheduled oil change, when I got the car back, the check engine light was on. Prior to the oil change, the light was not on, and I was having no issues. All three times, I had the technician take a look at it before I left the facility...
  5. Engine and Drivetrain
So I bought a 2012 Jeep patriot latitude 4 x 4 2.4 L back in February. It had 158,000 miles on it but was in immaculate condition. Even the engine was squeaky clean and all of its fluids. About 20 miles off the lot the check engine light comes on and I notice a slight loss of power. Not like a...

My understanding the computer tells you when it thinks you need to change the oil based on miles and how you drive. My question is if you change the oil before the indicator comes on do you do the same procedure you would use to reset the light even though it didn't come on?

Just purchased a 2014 Patriot Latitude 4x4. I plan on using synthetic oil for my oil changes. I seem to recall when synthetic first came out that the recommendation was to hold off awhile (first 10,000 miles?) before using it. I believe it had to do with synthetic preventing the piston rings...

In the manual for my 2010 jeep patriot it says i shouldnt go any more than 6,000 miles or no longer than 6 months without change the oil. I's been about 5 months since i have changed my oil but only put 2,000 miles on the jeep. i am going to the beach in a month and will put roughly 500 miles...

Hi, my name is Angel and I am new to the forum. I have been searching around the forum for answers on how to change my tranny flid. I have a 2008 Jeep Patriot with an Automatic CVT. I have gone past the recommended millage in which my manual recommends a transmission oil change. I would like to...

Okay, so at 3,500 miles, the handy little EVIC told me to change my oil, so I did. Well 4000 miles later, the EVIC is telling me it is time to change it again. I haven't been able to change it yet, so I am now 4400 miles since the last change, with 7,900 on the odometer. I am a bit puzzled since...

When is this signal suppoesed to come on? Mine came on at about 2500 miles which seems low to me. I can see 3000 but even 3000 these days is a bit aggressive? I was under the asumption these signals were like Honda's they came on by a sensor based on driving style and such? I call my local...
  12. Newbie Check-In
I'm a newbie to the forum, and after checking out the maintenance forum, I noticed that no one actually offered tips on changing the oil in a Trail Rated 4X4 Patriot w/skid plates, etc. I know the oil filter is relatively easy to access, but what about the oil plug? I haven't had it up on ramps...
  13. Maintenance
There are two Jeep Patriot Maintenance schedules, depending on your driving conditions. Almost everyone I know falls into schedule "B" (see criteria below). That means you should change your oil every 5000 km (3000 miles). In the real world you can probably stretch this out a bit...
