  1. Clutch problem related to brakes? Help!

    Jeep Patriot General Discussion
Just to conclude the problem to this original thread was the brake master cylinder. It was difficult to believe as my original problem was no pressure in the clutch pedal and the brakes worked fine. After a couple of days sitting though the brake pedal also had no pressure. The clutch master...
  2. Clutch problem related to brakes? Help!

    Jeep Patriot General Discussion
I'm going to replace the Brake master cylinder only, put back together and see after bleeding both brakes then clutch if it works they both hold pressure and work correctly. If it doesn't work all I've wasted is some time and brake fluid and I'll have to take it back off and look at replacing...
  3. Clutch problem related to brakes? Help!

    Jeep Patriot General Discussion
Great description Chryslerjourneyman. I've got the brake master cylinder off now, which has fluid inside where the spiggot is pushed from the brake pedal so has clearly been leaking. The Servo/ booster is a real pain to get out though. All bolts are disconnected and it's just floating around in...
  4. Clutch problem related to brakes? Help!

    Jeep Patriot General Discussion
OK got this now. In the UK the brake booster is referred to as the brake servo. I'll look at removing this and the master cylinder complete and finding the faulty part then bleed both the brakes and clutch seperately in that order.
  5. Clutch problem related to brakes? Help!

    Jeep Patriot General Discussion
OK thanks. The parts price are just what they are and there's not much I can do about that. It's the labour cost that gets me and if I can do it at home all the better. So am I right in saying that the pedal links to the brake booster which then links to the master cylinder which then...
  6. Clutch problem related to brakes? Help!

    Jeep Patriot General Discussion
Ok thanks Chryslerjourneyman, that rules out the slave cylinder as I'm sure the problem is the unit at the top of the brake pedal. I'm not familiar with the term brake booster. Is this the cylindrical unit with a corrugated plastic boot that you can see at the top of the brake pedal from inside...
  7. Clutch problem related to brakes? Help!

    Jeep Patriot General Discussion
Thanks Goguadi, appreciate your input. I'm just trying to be safe in the knowledge that if I take the car to a garage and say to them "my clutch has gone, can you replace the brake slave cylinder for me" that I'm making the right decision and they're not going to this this guy is nuts. Also, if...
  8. Clutch problem related to brakes? Help!

    Jeep Patriot General Discussion
Hi All. The clutch on my 2008 Patriot 2.0 CRD has become unuseable due to no pressure on the pedal and will not engage any gears. It didn't slip at all prior to this and it just happened out of the blue one morning. The Clutch/ brake reservior has enough fluid also. At the top of brake pedal...
  9. Battery light on but alternator fine?

    Electrical and Audio
Thanks for the reply Jack. The output on the alternator is showing just 4 volts which is obviously 10 or so volts short. The multiplug that plugs into the alternator is showing 12v so is providing power to the alternator. With the belt working perfectly am I right in thinking it simply has to be...
  10. Battery light on but alternator fine?

    Electrical and Audio
Hi All, Hoping for some help here. I have a 2008 Patriot 2.0 CRD and the battery light came on and stayed on whilst driving the other day. After checking all connections to alternator and battery and found them to be fine I concluded it must be a faulty alternator. I have now changed the...
