A fluid change with both filters probably runs +/-$350. Yeah, about double a conventional tranny. A dealer should do it, but some will claim its maintenance-free, or point to the recommended interval in the manual. However, if you push them, they will do it. There's no reason a trusted independent shop couldn't do it and maybe even for a mite less.
The Patriot CVT is the same Jatco unit used by Hyundai and Nissan so I suppose those dealers could do the work as well. In my case I like and trust my local Jeep dealer. One time they spotted a tranny leak and fixed it under warranty. Since the fluid had to be drained to accomplish the warranty work FCA paid for the refill and my dealer offered to do the filter while they were in there for a few bucks more -- maybe $50? I forget.
