Cruise control

My cruise control went out the other week. I called a local repair shop and he said it might be a fuse that went out. I looked in the book found where the fuse box is but not sure what fuse it is. He also said it might be connected with my cigarette outlet but that works fine.

Please help.

The cigar lighter has its own separate circuit. Many other items are lumped together, so your best bet is to pull each fuse and test it. Normally, you can see if the fuse is blown without, but every once in a while, you can get fooled!

Unlike older cars that use a servo of some sort to open the throttle, our cruise control is just an electric switch/control to the ECM/PCM. The ECM/PCM then opens the throttle electronically. The fuse is a good place to start, but it could also be a problem with the cruise stalk or the clock spring in the steering wheel. Do you at least get the Cruise message show up on the dash when you turn it on or off?

The cruise light does not show up when I start my vehicle or when I turn the cruise on.

Having the same issue with my 2008 Patriot North.

The cruise does light up on the dash when I press the cruise control button.

It was working intermittently for a while then once, while on the highway, it just spontaneously disengaged. Now it doesn't engage at all, but the light still comes on on the dash.

I"ll check the fuse box ?

Thanks for any insight. Gary

I too am having an engagement issue with the CC, so I will look into it. The lights are on and whatnot, but no CC engagement.

Today I pulled out and put back in/returned all the fuses. Made sure they were sitting tight. None were burnt.

Result:

My cruise control started working again.

Go figure. See if that lasts.🤔

We've had intermittent problems with our 2014 5-spd. Its been good for a couple months now, but its gone out a few times over the years. I didn't do a thing, I'd just check it every so often and shazam! its back.

I had an intermittent cruise control failure where restarting the car would fix the problem. It became more frequent so I took it to the dealer who noted that no codes were thrown. They replaced the switch assembly under warranty and the problem hasn't recurred.
