2008 Jeep Patriot - Bizarre power problem- NEED HELP!

So I installed an aftermarket double din screen in my 08 Pat. Used appropriate adapter and ran 12v power to cig lighter as someone else showed me. Been working GREAT for 2 weeks. Felt like I had a new car...and then something weird started to happen. I drove to the store yesterday as usual, went in, came back out, started my car, but noticed that I had no interior power at all (except for my radio which continued to work just fine). No gauges, interior lights, blinkers, caution, or wipers. Drove just fine but had no interior power control. I also noticed that the headlights were on even though I had them turned off. When I got home, I disconnected the neg terminal and then reconnected. This made the problem go away...for about 40 seconds. After 40 seconds of disconnecting battery and reconnecting, the problem returns and I have no interior power. I have reconnected the original radio to see if that fixed the issue but it didn't. I have checked all fuses, relays, terminals, battery voltage, and feel like I am losing my mind. I do remember when I diagnosed a different problem before, that I learned the patriot draws current after shutdown for about 30-40 seconds, then goes to 0 draw. In this situation, it's almost as if it gets to that point and then can't restart the necessary draw cycle that usually occurs when you open the door and see the dome light turn on? Any help would be amazing at this point because I'm about to check myself into an insane asylum!

I don’t know about the first generation patriot but the second generation patriot needs a wiring harness with a low speed cambus built in for after market radios won’t work. I would try leaving the battery cables of over night with old radio installed, then see what it does.

MODS=Remote start.Chrome grill inserts & door handles, Chrome mirror covers, headlight & tail light trim. 2 din radio with DVD, navigation and back up cam. Curt Trailer hitch, Oil cooler & trailer light wire harness. Parking sensors. Automatic headlights.Dash cam. Rear 12v power outlets. 120 AC 800w power inverter.

Found the problem. Because all electronics were going out in the cabin, i thought it was the BCM which is supposedly apart of the fuse box. However, I heard the slight sound of "short" coming from the instrument cluster about 40 seconds after shutdown which peaked my curiosity. I read somewhere that the cluster is important in the distribution of power throughout cabin so I gave that a shot. Turns out the instrument cluster was the problem. Grabbed one from junkyard and it works great...except it shows 218k miles on the odometer when mine actually only has 50k. Most everybody tells me thats just something I had to live with but...it bothered me so much that I ended up de-soldering the eprom chip on my original panel board that holds mileage information and re-soldered it to the junkyard board. Odometer reads correct now. What a headache. Thanks for the help guys.
