Wire near steering wheel?

Hey how's it going my fellow Patriots. I recently bought a Jeep Patriot 2008 in the beginning of the year , I love it! I've been slowly modifying it so it can describe me as a person. But recently the horn stopped working I never really found out why. And today I noticed this wire popping out of the steering wheel. Can anyone tell me what this wire is for because i am completely confused I'm wondering if this has anything to do with why the horn stopped working.

I bet it does. Do you have other controls on your steering wheel, like radio controls? Are they working? Either way, I wonder if that wire is connected to your airbags, too? I'm no expert, but I suggest getting it taken care of.

I agree with Ignatz, looks like ribbon cable from the clockspring.

I'd get it looked at ASAP.

Absolutely it could be a part of the airbag system. Like Sandstone said....ASAP!

And I am real leery about messing with steering wheels nowadays. You don't have to do but one wrong move with those air bag systems and you wear that bag in a hurry. Yikes!
