2012 Jeep Patriot not responding to key remote

Hi! I'm having issues with my key remote working on my 2012 Jeep Patriot. The thing that is happening seems that the jeep is not receiving the signals from the remote. I try to lock, unlock, engine start, and pressed the panic button but no response from the car. Then today I inserted the key and started the car up then turned it back off and removed the key and immediately started pressing the lock and unlock buttons repeatedly and they work perfectly. Thought if I wait less than a minute without pressing the buttons when i try and press them again there is no response from the car. I hope you can help with this problem. Thanks!

Side note the radio does not work and is completely silent but the satellite, CD, and aux work fine. I don't know if the problems are related but just a FYI. lol

Keys, fobs, locks and stuff

Simple beginning is to change to the spare key fob and use your spare key. Change the key fob battery too. Another source of problems is the switch box on the door which is together with the window switches. These switches get wet when it rains and you open the door and eventually corrosion builds up. They are easily cleaned. There is a section in the manual to reset the key fob, try that. Read about the inside access to open the rear hatch once the key fob will not do it. Check all four door lock switches.
One last thing, In past history with other cars it usually is the key. It is a 2012 so the key is getting old and worn. Change the key and the key fob. I usually recommend using only the key to start the car. Remove it from that key ring full of heavy items. The extra weight will eventually cause problems. In my 2014 patriot I get issues with starting, so I use both keys and so far, it is manageable.

It is only a machine.
