Strange Vacuum Leak

2007 Jeep patriot 2.4L 4cylinder

Symptoms: Misses (almost like hard hits), tends to go away once engine is fully warm.

I put some thick engine assembly oil around the fuel injectors to ensure they are plugged up during this test.

Facing the engine, on the right most cylinder, if I spray butane anywhere near the top of the engine it will nearly stall out.

If I spray a decent amount of starter fluid same thing, but it takes a bit of it not just a quick shot. The starter fluid is less reactive after engine warm. The leak is definitely down below the fuel injector underneath the camshaft position sensor. Spraying stuff well below near the TB has not effect.

Intake manifold sucking air?

Last fall replaced the throttle body due limp mode. Has not returned. But the missing is getting worse. I replaced all 4 spark plugs and the t plugs in it were pitted after 5k miles.

Coils are about 2 years old.

No codes. None. Hard misses on the interstate when accelerating almost like "kick backs".

I pulled the camshaft sensor but that has oil around it so I dont think it could suck there.

Is it possible it is the intake manifold gasket and once it gets hot it stops leaking as bad?

Would a video help?

I pulled the intake manifold off. I realized a couple of things Ive had fixed over the years resulted in them removing the intake manifold. Probably never replaced the gasket. The #4 cylinder area was very flat and I could see where I had been spraying stuff to test for leaks as the head was much cleaner on the mating surface. Trying to decide If I should replace anything while I have it off..

Ok manifold back on. Before replacement, I was able to get multiple CEL codes about misfires as I flooded the top of the intake with butane. Now that it is back on, I cannot cause misfires any more so the vacuum leak is fixed. I dont understand how the engine was starting so easy with this big of leak. NO codes.

But to my dismay, the problem seems to persist. I didnt notice misses while idle, but I still get stumbling on acceleration and still some "kick" back at times. I sprayed the entire engine down with car cleaner trying to find a leak, none found. It does seem to idle a little rough. I may try replacing both camshaft sensors, can I unplug them while running to test?

Could it be a transmission issue?

Last weekend I replaced a sway bar link that was making noise when turning the wheel. Now I get an issue like clunking when I drive over bumps. When I jack the jeep up, I notice and can move the tire cack and forth and as the transaxle (?) turns it makes a clunking noise. Going to post a video in the transmission forum.

I may have to have someone hook up an expensive scanner to get this.
