Since there are quite a few people interested in these wheels including me I thought I'd consolidate all the info we have in one thread. Feel free to add, ask and/or answer any related questions.

I'll start with a question. I'm very interested in purchasing a set of Unique 297 and have gathered price quotes all over the place. My dilemma is I'd like to get 16x7 rim but according to the link below that rim has 0 offset and 4'' BS compared to +38 offset and 5.25'' BS of 16" OEM wheel. The tire guy at Discount Tire questioned the fitment as well when I inquired about the wheels. I see people put 16x8 +13 offset and 5" BS with no issues. However they all used wider tires at least 225's.

I'm not a wheel expert but have learned a lot since joining the forum. Can someone confirm if there are issues running a wheel with 0 offset? Is the wider rim in this case 16x8 would put more stress on suspension components?

Here is the spec list from Unique website.

When are you thinking of getting different wheels?
Need to get my taxes done and my job's bonus should be in mid February so hopefully by end of February or March. I'd love to get new tires put on at the same time but there is always this $$$ wall that I need to concur.

The extra weight of steelies and bigger tires will probably affect brakes and suspension. If the 16x7 would fit it might be nice to have a little less weight over the 8 inchers. I was looking at these too, but I really prefer alloy due to the weight. I have been hoping American Racing, KMC, or some other brands would come out with wheels similar to these but in alloy. For as little as I drive I imagine the extra weight would not be a big deal, but for others maybe....

Did a quick calculation as an example to see the impact in numbers :D

OEM 16'' steelies w/ 205/70/16 GY LS2 = (26.4+24)x4 = 201.6 lbs
16x8 297 series w/ 225/70/16 Yoko Geolandar AT/S = (37+30)x4 = 268 lbs

So the difference is roughly 67lbs. Similar topic was brought up by goguadi.

Take into consideration a bigger tire also on the heavier wheel. I imagine the stock steel weighs more than 16 lbs....

I emailed an ebay seller about the weight of the 16 inch steel's weight. They replied that it is 26.4 lbs.

My centercaps are starting to rust through from the inside, and I barely drive on salty roads. spray them with some WD-40 or grease from the inside before installing.

I don't have any info to share. But all of those pictures are looking good. Well done guys.

Once my extended warranty is up - sometime this summer - I'm going to install the RR lift I bought over a year ago and put some black rims on. I'll flag this thread and keep an eye on it.

245/70R16s on 16x7 w/ (4" BS??) Cragars is a guarenteed fit (no rub on non lifted) for the 2011+ pats (in particular 2012 fdII) I'd like to start pricing out tire wheel combos.

Also has anyone had any problems with getting warrantied work done to the tranny or suspension, or anything for that matter due to the wheel being larger and heavier then recomended?

Has anyone had trouble getting the riot to pass inspection? (due to the tire sticking further out then the fender or otherwise) For these two maters, should I hold onto my stock tires?

How much is the set up running currently... I've heard people paying 65 per rim (I cant find rim for less then 90) (360 + lugs + caps + tires + mounting + tax + shipping) = 1000sh??

How much are your stock rims and tires selling for approx. (600ish?)

Sorry, that's all for now... I have been reading the threads for the last 2 hrs, and have an idea to some of the answers, but a more definitive answer would be helpful.

wow, thanks for the quick reply, It seems like a narrower tire will give you better traction in the snow as well, no? I think I may opt for stormtroopers set up, since he has an 11+ and seems to have no issues.

Do you foresee any issues with the dealership, I can see how they would b*tch about the ODO being off, and the excess wear to the suspension and tranny.

Yes, a narrower tire will give a better snow traction. As far as dealerships, just look at all of those Wranglers rolling on 33s or 35s. Do you think their speedo is calibrated?:D I think a dealer would care less for your speedo being off. The suspension is going to fail regardless of the setup, it's just a matter of time. Once it does, Moog is your friend.
