Thanks for the detailed writeup & pics.

I'm curious of two things;

1. were you able to get your phone to work with the new deck
2. why do you need to see your iPod?

My 2010 Patriot came with the Uconnect radio but and will connect to my Treo700 cell phone but it won't dial out or answer

My iPod connector is in the glovebo so I simply plug in my iPod and close the glovebox. I don't have the steering wheel controls but I can sort through the iPod's songs via the deck's controls.

The voice control is essential if you have the Sirus radio option. How else can you dial up channel 140 without taking your attention off of the road. Now if only my cell phone would work with it

Hey, regarding the new deck... Yea the Bluetooth on my iphone works well with the 2009 factory deck. Works just like it's supposed to anyway. If you're having trouble with your phone syncing up, Do tell. What's going on? Does it sync up at all? Will it recognize your contacts if you try "call John smith", etc?

As far as why I need to see the iPod... My iPhone has a real good maps application that responds to voice... So yea. Receiving texts as well. (hands free that is) then I can just return by calling them uconnect style.

EDIT: hmm, ok so upon reading that a second time, it looks like you are able to sync up to the uconnect, but are having trouble with the voice-over. That sounds to me like a bluetooth compatibility issue. Hopefully there's a patch somewhere online you can download to give you a different bluetooth profile or... maybe the uconnect just isn't up to the treo snuff?

When you go to the bluetooth settings on your phone, does it say it's connected to "UConnect"?
When you try to initiate a call by name, does it say, "calling, John smith, Mobile (etc). Is this correct?"
If yes, and you say yes, and it calls out but then disconnects or goes blank, I think it's a bluetooth profile error.
When you dial a number using the keypad on your phone and press dial, does it ask you whether you want to use uconnect or your phone to make the call, or is there any indication on the phone you're using uconnect?
If yes, then the problem might be with your uconnect's system.

I duno, i'm just ripping off ideas from the top of my head...

Okay I'll try and answer a few of your questions.

I'm able to sync my Treo 700 cell phone with the Uconnect radio and when I attempt to dial out the radio goes through with the motions but the phone doesn't. I strongly believe it to be the Treo 700 cell phone software of the compatibility of the Uconnect because a second cell phone I have, a Treo 650 actually does appear to function fully however I don't have that Treo activated.

Tonight I'll search the Treo website to see if there's a Bluetooth update.

Just making sure I understand, in order to use the simple iPod cable you have to also install the UConnect system?

brubakes, yes that's correct. The simple iPod cable plugs into the back of the UConnect system's little black box along with the microphone, and then plugs into the back of the factory stereo. The ipod cable does not directly plug into the back of the stereo, unless your stereo is a different model than the 2009 RES, in which case then I don't know for sure.

She was a great ride while it lasted... but alas, the patriot is gone to entertain someone else. Moved on to an F150. The trail continues...

Thanks. I don't think I want to put in the money for the UConnect system.
