CVT means continuously variable transaxle. It is the automatic transmission option for the Patriot and Caliber, and is manufactured by Jatco. It comes in two flavors, CVT2 and CVT2L. CVT2 is available on 4x2 and 4x4 vehicles. Freedom Drive I is a 4x4 option that can be combined with either the manual transmission or the CVT2. CVT2L is only available in 4x4 vehicles with auto transmission, and is packaged with other options as "Freedom Drive II" (FDII), this is also known as the "trail rated" version of the Patriot.

Since you have 4x2, you don't have either the FDI or FDII four-wheel drive system. If you have an automatic transmission, it can only be CVT2.

Desert Dog got it right on Yokster.

And the II is just the second version of the CVT.
