Owning a car nobody asked for...

More negative press for the Jeep Compass/Patriot duo. I think it's pretty cool that I own a car that nobody asked for...that's gotta help my insurance rates, chances of it being stolen, etc. Still waiting for a 2014 test drive to see if the press changes their mind about the Patriot.

I looked at patriots for a year and a half before I bought one, I looked at all its competition and and all my options, and guess what. I really wanted one.

Ive been wanting since 2007, and never thought I could truly afford and support an SUV, but I bit the bullet one day, and don't regret it. I am honestly thinking about getting a limited with FD1 and 2.4 motor. Ill have to see what deals come about my way....

Get the 2.4L...you won't regret it. I'm averaging more mpg with the 2.4L vs. the 2.0L in our 2011.

I don't understand the peevish tone of car article writers when it comes to the Pat. I mean I get it that their tastes are refined compared to one mere peasant like myself, but seriously, off the high horse would ya? OK, so you say the Patriot doesn't perform off-road compared to similar vehicles, OK prove it... cite it... do something more than repeating the same tired jab ad nauseam. We get it, yes it won't perform like a Wrangler (surprise!) and no it doesn't time travel like a JGC (costs an arm and a leg). His observation that the Patriot was not asked for is pretty narrow minded too. If they weren't "asked for" why is everyone buying them left and right? I see Pats all over town, at the store, across the street at my neighbors house, etc and so on. He forgets that alot of us don't need (nor want) to drive a space ship to town that looks like a saggy piece of fruit with wheels on it. We like our modern day boxes with wheels on them.

Man, he just drips with the acid coming out of his mouth. Another snarky individual with a preconceived notion about a car he's probably never really driven. Funny thing is that those pictures were really nice! I just used my Pat as a plow to clear some trails in my driveway because my plow service couldn't get here. Just went back and forth flattening down the snow so my wife can get out in her Camry. Nobody asked? NOT!

It's just another person's opinion; a rather immaturely written opinion. It seems like a lot of these review articles just jump on the "it's awful" bandwagon without fully comparing the pros and cons.

It was used first for the second-gen Outlander, but then spread to such all-conquering off-road machines as the Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring (sarcasm, for those who have a hard time telling)
Any credible car review will not be dripping with sarcasm, Mr. online author.

Sorry fella, I don't buy used vehicles. I happen to like knowing the entire history of my daily driver.

The truth is, nobody has ever really asked for a posermobile.
After a year of ownership, I'll take my "posermobile" over horrific offerings such as the Rav-4 and CR-V every day of the week.

Perhaps someone wants luxury without being a pretentious douche bag? Or overpaying for a glorified Toyota? Weird.

Got home last Tuesday to a 20 inch berm of snow entering the driveway.I slowly put the front tires on it. When the rears came up to it it started to stress. Put the 4wd lock on and you know the story.
These reviewers live in Florida where the Pats and Compasses are less needed. You get in our neck of the woods and these cars can save your life. Maybe someone from Alberta CA could do a better review. Can't find any used ones for less than 8 grand in Wi.

The Patriot is one of the most practical SUV's on the market-period, with the emphasis on UTILITY.

It's most certainly not a posermobile. Land Rover Evoque yes, Patriot definitely not. I have building materials and muddy dogs in mine and with a quick wipe down, good as new.

Forget biased reviews, make your own mind up.

That's what I did. Went past all the negative crap in the press and took a chance on the vehicle I liked the looks of best. I couldn't be happier...unless maybe I was in a new 10th anniversary Wrangler Rubicon.
