What tires will fit a 07 Patriot limited?

Hi
I just recently purchased a 2007 Jeep Patriot 4x4 Limited with 17in wheels on it. I was wanting to get some 15 inch blackrock 997s for it but I dont know how big of an all terrain tire I could fit on it without it rubbing. Anyone have suggestions?

a 29.5" tall by 9ish" wide is about as wide as you can go, and that will rub. but its the maximum. I don't think 15" rims fit, but 16" do.

So what tire would that be if I went to Discount Tire for example?

it could be all sorts of sizes, I currently run a 245/65-17 which is the max for a 17" tire. but you could do a 225/70-17, or a 235/65-17, 225/65-17 and you get a bunch more sizes in 16" diamater wheels, but that's the rule, less than 29.5" tall, and less than 9.5" wide. tire calculators online will help you figure out which size falls in that range.

Thanks for your help. If I go with a 16' wheel, im assuming at this point i could go with a 235/70 r16 and I shouldnt have much to any rubbing?

Once you go past that 225 in width you start to run into rubbing. A few people don't but most say they do.

You think a 225/70 r17 would be a decent upgrade from a 215/60 r17 for a more all terrain/off road look?

It would be a substantial upgrade.

There are lots and lots of tire threads on here if you search.

225/70 or 225/65 what would you decide on if you had a choice?

225/65/17 will not rub at 28.5" diameter but a fatter or taller tire you might rub in either the wheel well or the strut shelf. Check out the Knowledge Base for a complete list of tires that do or do not rub.

225/70R17 is 29.4" tall and may give you some rub issues on the suspension?

225/65R17 does not rub at full steering lock or on the suspension( usually - few instances but rare )and is really the best bet unless you will run a lift and or wheel spacers.

I am actually having 225/65's installed in the morning. My Jeep came with the OE 215/60R17's. I don't care about the size really. I am not doing it for that reason. I am doing it for improved bad weather performance while towing my duck boat during the season. If I could get a decent tire in one of the OE 17" sizes I would in a heartbeat vs going oversized and having the speedometer and odometer screwed up.
