Sound proofing

I searched the forum and google for the thread where the fella sound proofed his entire jeep. I may not go that far but I would like to sound proof most of it.

If anyone remembers that post do you remember how much it cost? How long it took him?

And in your opinion should I worry about taking up the seats and carpet, or just the doors and behind plastic panels?

I am getting a price from local audio dealer today and I will update after that.

I did the back end and all 4 doors. I used a knock off which I don't recommend. Its very DIY unless you really just want a shop to do it. Second skin is the best bang for your buck. Just apply small strips everywhere, there's no need to dampen everything unless you want to. Check out DIYMA.com they really know there stuff. I highly recommend the doors and liftgate and the back area.

Page two had his dynamat install details, sadly though all of the pictures are gone. Shame too because they were the only pictures of a completely gutted Patriot interior.

I found gtmat... They were offering 10 sq ft as promotional. So... I figured it wouldn't hurt. Shoot even if it does a decent job. And tell my friends to get their trial! Sound proofing!

Even my knock off did an amazing job. Its just not "the proper way". It killed a lot of the road noise, and it improved sound quality. I'd recommend it to everyone to do, maybe not my way, but a way.

I used Quick Roof (from homedepot) as it was recommended by a bargain audio forum. It comes in rolls of 6" by 33'. I covered everything, no gaps at all, and used 4 rolls. But any proper deadener you just use small strips placed strategicly.

Hmmm... found the gtmat website, but can't find anything about a free 10 sf promotion. Maybe they're not offering it anymore...

EDIT: Never mind, I found it! You have to call to get it. Now I need to find several friends to call to get it as well!!!

Hey guys, the free sample is actually for our 50mil product. It is not a B grade sample in the least. We are also offering 6oz samples of our Liqui-Damp X product if interested. Be careful when having your friends call in, they may want to keep it for themselves!

Yep I was quoted 75sq ft of the 80mil for 146 and some changed. I will be ordering soon. Gotta get pull together about 80 more $ and ill be able to order
