How can we improve Patriot of the Month???

Hey guys, so I read in the September POTM thread that some people had opinions on modifying the rules for POTM.

Let's let this thread serve as an area to openly discuss ways we could potentially make POTM better/faster/stronger.

The one example that comes to mind is to enact a "every entry has to have fresh pictures for that month rule". Is this how the majority feels?

Maybe there are other ideas that people have on how we can make POTM better/take it to the next level? Let them fly!!!

The additional prizes seem to have been working pretty well.

Once this thread gets going and we have some developed ideas I'll start a poll or something to quantify the feedback .

Maybe we can try some of the new ideas out as early as October if they seem to be well received.

I vote the first month's theme should be "Airborn Patriot"

But you could do things like "Patriot Dog" or "Patriot Kitt-eh" or "Lake Patriot"

I like the idea... someone in the past mentioned a patriotic theme for July.

Who chooses the theme? Do we have a thread where people post ideas for the following month then we vote on it?

Airborne Patriot is a pretty rad idea... not sure how many entry's we'd get though as lots of people barely off road their Pat's let alone will jump them & take pics... (I would )

Oh man I've got one... how about a Patriot of the year shoot out in Dec or Jan where we take all of the winners from 2012 and pit them against each other for a battle royale?

I am new here but I have an idea. I am not sure how it would work but if everyone that entered the POTM contest could put in a preset dollar amount to an account then whoever won the contest could be given the dollar amount in some manner (gift card, paypal or some other manner). The dollar amount doesn't have to be big (maybe 10 dollars or so). Just an idea.

Before we started talking about the POTM, I had started looking at doing a decal for it, before later what became the current one, at the same time I did it for Patriot of the Year. I guess I didn't want to get to far ahead of it or push it. It wouldn't be hard to put it in the POTM decal.

I like a theme idea. It seems we got quite a few pictures during that picture theme game we had earlier this year. So it's doable.

Maybe hold the poll in January after the December contest?

That's a good question. And I don't have an answer.

I do have another question, though. Will having a POTY contest restrict people from winning POTM multiple times?
