but back to the issue at hand; while the Rams DO have dash issues, can't say that one other model has had a similar problem. sure beats those days from back in the late 60's and 70's, huh?

maybe it was the same supplier that chevy bought the cavalier dash pieces from

Wow, must have just been a ram issue, I know the Ram and Dakota for those years (97-2000 Dakotas and 98-01 Rams anyways) shared the same climate contraol, stereo, and other units in the dash, guess they were different otherwise. Also, are you sure 94-01 and not 98-01 since4 the 94-97s had totally different dashes and interiors? I also know a few people with 98 Rams with high miles and their interiors have held up great (actuallky don't know of any with cracking dashes and they are heavily abuse work trucks), was this a problem only with certain bactches or just luck of the draw? Did they have 2 different suppliers? Always wanted an 01 HD with the Cummins, but may change my mind now LOL. Oh and if you want to know about interior problems try a grand Prix or Buick Regal, in my grand prix i literall had to keep placing the sunroof surround back in plan, the drivers dorr panel literally fell apart one day, the cupholders would fall part, my parents Regal, with less than 90k miles has already had the cupholders disentigrate and other parts getting loose, I won't even get into the electrical and mechanical problems and all the money poured into maintenence on these cars. The 93 Fleetwood had a badly cracked dash and electrical gremlins, but i only paid 1100 for it and it ran like a champ at least. We have never had an interior hiccup with our Chrysler cars, though haven't actually had a Ram in the household (except as a rental once), just know lots of people with them.

second, have you even LOOKED at the inside of the current COMPASS? IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME AS A PATRIOT!!! so if you think the Compass is 'aweful ugly inside', then YOUR PATRIOT must be the same.
Your point is taken, I think I was thinking more caliber. However, the compass inside is not EXACTLY the same, but for rather for all practical purposes the dash is. I will say that you do get the better shift knob so I scooped that up.

The rest of it has a different compartment size and roof line including bigger hips in the rear compartment.

I am wrong on the dash part, you are right there, but you are wrong on the rest of the interior. The Pat wins in my opinion, you can have a diffferent one.

Enjoy your compass. I still think it is butt ugly, and the sales seem to refect this. But if you like it that is all that matters.
