Jeep Patriot 2009 check engine light help plz
Hey gents
I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Yesterday, on my jeep patriot i removed a plastic cover to get to the battery, so i could boost my honda civic who's battery died. I installed the plastic cover back in it's place. Yet this morning, i got a check engine light on my patriot. I did the 5 seconds on off trick. On my odometer, it wrote DONE. So what do i do to make the check engine light go away? or is it possible that something is wrong even though the odometer says DONE. thanks in advance |

Try going to one of the local auto parts stores that'll read codes for free. There's not much around the battery cover/air intake that could cause a check engine light. See if you can get the code then report back.

Could be coincidental,
Or the jump could have just caused a spike/surge in voltage somewhere. If someplace reads codes for free use that, If your due for an oil change soon, wait and ask them to check it when getting the oil change. Did disconnect the battery at all? As low voltage from disconnecting the battery can also throw a code |

Thank you for the help guys
Funniest thing, the check engine light suddenly disappeared after driving for about an hour. I turned off the car at the gas station, turned it back on and it just suddenly disappeared. Don't know if it will come back or not. Sure hope not. Thank again gents |

Dealer will charge around $80 for the scan, even if during other mait.
My light came on twice, first time the engine blew, second time not long after that, took it in right away and they fixed under warranty. But, if the repair was not warranty they would have charged for the scan.

One of my favorite Amazon purchases of all time....(I got for $15..now it's a tad more)
http://<br /> <br /> http://www.am...obd+ii+scanner I like to scan my codes right away just in case.... It just tells ya the code # and you have to look it up online. Also is capable of deleting the code and the check engine light. |
