This is the stock stereo i have in my 2011 Patriot---

This is the oem Jeep Patriot stereo i want---

How do i go about changing from the top stereo pic to the bottom stereo pic?
Does the bottom stereo have a special name in where i can search for one on Ebay or elsewhere??Is it a direct swap?Any help is appreciated.

Re: I want this! How to change?

Your going to have to order it, I dont remember the name that it goes by. If I recall, you'll also want to purchase a lockpick to unlock some of the features. Lots of members have gone this route, and it tends to be pretty pricey. About $650 +.

That $650 price quoted above is off E-bay. New, from a dealer, it goes for about $1800.

That looks like a MyGig 430. (RBZ)

Very spendy if you're vehicle didn't come with it, you're much better off getting a nice aftermarket unit if you're unhappy with the stock. To answer your question, that unit is the Media Center 430.

Is called Media Center or MyGig. You can find them on EBay at around $300 used, and they are extremely easy to install. There two kinds low speed bus or high speed bus, make sure you buy a low speed bus for your patriot, the high speed will not work. I recently bought mine off ebay and installed it myself, it has been the best upgrade ever. Also, if you buy one with satellite radio, you have to install the satellite antenna so you can use feature. If you are lucky when you plug in the "new" media center, and plug in antenna..the sat radio may just work righ away without new subscription. I recommend the RBZ (new versions made by Mitsubishi). Be patient finding a good deal on ebay. Good luck!

There are different models of media centers, RBZ replaced predecessor (check this out: http://mofv.com/mygig/). The model number is written in lower right corner of each unit. Low bus or high bus is determined based in car, patriot use low bus speed, so make sure you ask seller what kind of bus it is. Many ebay listing mention bus speed of units, if they don't just ask. I hope that helps.

Why would i want an RBZ over the older model? There is no updates or support for the RBZ as stated in the link you provided.

You can get whatever you like, I got the RBZ and I didn't need to update anything and its a newer system. The older versions are nice too and perhaps cheaper.

Thanks for all the help. There are a few sellers on Ebay that look like they specialize in the MYGIG and they have alot of information on them and feel confident that they can get me what i want however the downside is they want 500-600 for their radios which is about 200 more than just a plain old Ebay seller.Wonder if paying more from a seller that knows what their talking about compared to paying less to some dude that just pulled the radio out of their own vehicle or some derelict vehicle and they have no idea what it is?

No problem, I understand your concerns. The things about these radios is that there were designed for these cars, so it really is plug and play, and I don't think it will make much of a difference who you buy from. Unless they sent it to you already will all the updates. Just try to check their feedback (if ebay) and make sure they sell you a low speed. The one I got was pull out of a new car, so it still had plastic LCD cover on it. Good luck and feel free to message if you are not sure about something, I might be able to help.

to expensive..

Hi, i agree with some other guys, you could have a much better after market for less money, also with more fonctions, like dvd, bluetooth music etc, It is not harder to plug, with the right harness, it is also a plug and play....
You must really want to have this radio at this price! Good luck

I payed $300 for a my gig radio just like that, off of eBay. It was used and it was for a Chrysler. And the good news is when I took pat in for an oil change, the dealer saw that it was a Chrysler radio, and order me a brand new jeep radio under warranty. I got lucky.
