Why would they invest and revamp something that is getting axed in couple of years? It doesn't make sense from the cost perspective. GC is Jeep's flagship that is why it's getting all of the attention.

I don't believe they would get rid of it....like some other members have said, i think that this is a bridge model for the big change in 2015. I get that the GC is the flagship but that doesn't mean that they should ignore the other models. Both ways it would be upsetting to see the patriot go if it did go and i think its really dumb when car manufacturers shut down production of popular vehicles or vehicles that had a lot of potential

If you watch the video in the OP of this thread the guy says the Patriot and Compass will be replaced in 2 years. Straight up! Skip to the 3 minute mark and listen from there;

America as a whole never liked the baby Jeeps. They cherish. vehicles starting with the letters H T N B V and M. Us northerners buy American because they mostly service domestic. Which brings higher prices for domestic. We have little use for the other makes. Get excited about a Hyundai tranny I will stick with the Nissan cvt.

Our '07 has the 2-tone pleather and it is very comfortable and still looks new. Never understood why they dropped it, oh yeh, just like the rear discs went away on the Sport, now I rememeber, PRICE-POINT!

Fiat/Jeep has said all along that two platforms, the first being the Cherokee and the next one being the Compass/Patriot (bet one of them goes) was the direction they are headed. This is where the "Next Gen" styling will be a departure aka the spy shots. The Next Gen Pat will be the "baby Cherokee",
"the Fiat design".

Hey, new guy here.
My wife and I purchased a 13 Patriot two weeks ago. I will say I hadn't even considered the vehicle until I found out it was available with a 5 speed manual. We bought a Sport 4x4 5 speed in black forest green. What made me look at the vehicle besides the manual trans you ask? Ah, it was the basic, boxy Jeep look with the simple, round headlights. It so much reminds me of the old Cherokee that I love the looks of. Anything swoopy or with fancy headlights would have been enough of a turn off for us that we wouldn't have even considered buying one. So, for some, the basic, old school looks/functionality of the Patriot was the selling point. For those wanting more I feel they make the GC for your next Jeep and probably what Jeep wants you to move up to.

I would have bought a manual but I drive OTR and I need a smooth tiny rock hopper to come home to.

Two platforms, huh? 1=Cherokee & 2=Compass/Patriot. On which one is the Wranger built? Or are they cutting the Wrangler because it is too popular?

People buy the Wrangler for functionality & basic looks, not to be trendy. Swoopy styling and weird-shaped headlights will look as dated as tail-fins and side-spears in a few years. Wrangler still looks like it did in 1944. (If only they could still make it as it was then!)

If you watch that video the Jeep guy says they are keeping their flagship (obviously) and the Wrangler because it is so ridiculously popular. He later says they are planning to produce the Grand Wagoneer as a seperate Jeep from the GC because it is such a storied name plate (or soemthing like that). It's gonna be bigger. Then in 2 years the Patriot and COmpass will be replaced so we probably won't see updates again after this new transmission upgrade. And we all know they are bringing a new Liberty replacement this year.

So ultimately we will see a time when theres these vehicles all at the same time;
Grand Cherokee
Grand Wagoneer
Wrangler
Liberty Replacement
MK replacement (probably only one vehicle to replace the two but he didn't specify)

Probably a good move. The Patriot and Compass are redundant (not to mention the Caliber). They should've gone with the Patriot as a 'truckier' version and the Caliber for an auto version. IMHO the Compass never should have happened. They're all coming out of the same dealership. What difference is a nameplate? Its just chrome letters on a fender. They could have named the Wranger the Geranium and it would still sell just as well.

well that REALLY sucks!!!!, but why stop production of a really well selling vehicle? it doesn't make any sense to me at all....i think it has to do with fiat trying to put their platforms in so they have to make room for them.

i totally agree, the compass is just weird....as we all know i can't stand the styling whatsoever but ignoring that, its extremely redundant and kind of stupid and i laugh everytime i see a higher price for the compass

...they stoped making the Cherokee's back in, what, 2000? They've done it before and they'll continue to do it again...
