Ignatz, sorry I wasn't watching my typing- should have said the Chrysler dealer also sells Nissan. Regarding the CVT, today Allpar.com has a story the 2014 Patriot, due out this spring, will have a 6-spped auto.

JoeP, if you're from across the pond, then you probably have a turbo diesel? That would make world of difference in many respects. Still can't figure out why that was never offered in the US.

As for the CVT being problematic, I've lost transmissions in 2 GM products: at 60,000 miles in my '86 Buick Electra and at 50,000 in my '97 Olds Bravada. The Olds dealer couldn't figure it out; said it still looked new inside. In both cases the vehicles were off warranty but GM went 1/2 way on it. |

Really! I've never changed brake fluid unless a repair required it. Is that something that going to get changed during a routine pads & rotors change?

Brake fluid slowly absorbs moisture.
So yeah, if its a long term vehicle or a new to you older vehicle probably not a bad idea to change it out. The new silicone brake fluids are much more stable and hydrophobic but who knows what the manufacturer used. As to the blown tranny...that is probably something you only want to do once, eh?

It's okay, John. If you were here with me now, I'd give you a very long and large hug. I'd listen to you. Hear you out. Discuss potential solutions for the problems we've got. I feel like after such a session you'd feel better, perhaps even "good," but either way, I just wanna reach out to you on this sad, sad afternoon. Chin up, John! Let's get through this. |

![]() Yes, Ignatz is still in the hospital and I really hate having him there. Real inconvenience. Nice to have a loaner, but Ignatz is a working partner -- so much stuff squirreled away in there. |

Good. Reasonable turn around time. Just curious what dealer did you go to( if you don't mind saying ).
