Hello!

Just want to say "hello" to everyone since I've been lurking for 3-4months.

My Jeep Patriot is on hold because I still haven't determined if the cost of CPO added to a vehicle is worth it - so many pros and cons. And I know I'll just kick myself later if I don't get a 4x4. I'll post all the new-to-me stuff before the end of the month.

Thank you, all, for your participation in these forums. It's a börgåsmord of info that is much appreciated in my pursuit.

Happy New Year, Merry (10th day of) Christmas, Joyous Kwanzaa, et c.

Welcome!

I agree, depending on where you live, the 4x4 is well worth having.

Welcome! Yes, it is tough not having a 4x4 and wishing that you had it, but knowing it is too late. I went from a 4x4 to a Ford Splash pickup back in 1998. I then got stuck several times over the next few winters. Nothing but 4x4s from that point on in my life.

ctherrien will become famous soon enough
I kick myself every now and then for not getting the 4x4. It's mostly when I'm explaining to others ... "Yes, Jeep makes vehicles that aren't 4x4, don't know why, but they do". Or when I'm parking beside a snow bank and I feel the urge to climb it... LOL, (this happens allot btw)

But given the chance to do it over, I'd probably buy the same thing.

Wanting and needing are 2 different things.

Once my kids graduate from university, that line I drew in the sand... well... I just hope Jeep is still making cool toys by then.

Good luck with your decision.

needs v. wants

thanks, all.

i read the infamous LEAKS thread - wow! didn't want a sunroof to begin with, but when there isn't one...?!!! my nose is very sensitive to odors, so shopping will be interesting. and my DIY abilities will also be put to task if my pat 'inks' (just trying to stay positive here). thanks in advance for the relevant repair posts.

4x4 WAS high on the list only because i live in new england. after a serious review of wants v. needs, it's not a deal breaker feature as i only live five blocks from work...so no kicking. the "green" thing i mentioned in another post is an issue for me, but homeownership is a major factor now. i feel comfortable with the patriot's fuel efficiency with the MT (and less $$$ repairs?). and, so far, stoughton ikea/cape cod mall/providence place is the typical but infrequent jaunt, which means fuel will be consistently sipped.

i'm really excited about this and looking forward to the jeep experience. one can never be too happy.
