I just made the trip from Olympia, WA to Buffalo, NY. We hit a huge storm in Wisconsin and my 2012 Patriot 4x4 was awesome! The only reason I had to get off the thruway was due to visibility at 2000 in the morning. Just couldn't see anything. I locked into 4 wheel once. The rest of the time I just let her do her thing and I was extremely impressed. There was a couple of feet of snow being dumped on the roads and I was stopping to help others that were stuck, off the road, or otherwise in less favorable stations. My pat really impressed me!

I cannot believe an Interstate was named "I-69".

However, I think there was a press conference covering the Grand Opening of I-69. Bill and Monica were there.

I'm sorry, Murman. I thought you were disrespecting my commute when you were just being funny.

NO ONE DISRESPECTS MY COMMUTE DAMMIT!!!

EDIT....I graduated 25, not 15 years ago. Wishful thinking!

I didn't have any trouble getting around in the recent blizzard. 15"+ of virgin snow, even higher snow drifts, and ice underneath, and I didn't even have to turn on 4WD.

You are kind of in 4WD. Wheels will take traction for the slipping wheels. The orange traction light will go on in dash if you are slipping. Kind of like Subarus awd but I would hope this system works better. You only need to lock 4wd in dire or hairy situations.

we had about 6 inches in pittsburgh last week and when i left work nothing was salted or even touched. took a while to get up the hill from my office. esp kicked on a couple times, but I made it. i was impressed too! i also like the joy stick (sorry, don't know proper name) that allows me to gear down. it is great going down hills, as i can slow down the vehicle without having to put my foot on the break which could cause sliding.

Man, I did that same maneuver the first winter I had my Cherokee. My wife and I were driving around town looking at houses for sale. I was fairly cocky back then, and overconfident in the awesomeness of my first 4x4; I'd take wide u-turns on country roads to turn around and look at a place. The heavy snowfall that year hid the drainage ditch that I ended up in. I could only move back and forth, and shoveling didn't help. No damage to the Cherokee, only my pride. No cell phones in those days, but we live in a small town, so lots of people stopped to help. Had to hitch a ride into town to get a tow truck.

You know that look your spouse gives you when you've done something monumentally stupid? Yeah, I've gotten that look a few times over the years.

And the bitch of it all - I teach physics!

Careful... down shifting can initiate a slide as well. Probably not much of an issue in a fwd based awd system, but I spun my old tj while coming down a hill and on unexpected ice. I should have pulled 4x4 but I just down shifted one gear instead. Ended up facing back up the hill.
