You may have received one of the faulty transmissions. The syncro gears in some of the transmissions have come unstuck from the adhesive that's supposed to hold them together. There is a TSB out on this: http://www.wkjeeps.com/misc/Caliber/...er_2101108.pdf

Thanks. I have 48k mile 5-speed 2008 Pat 4x4. Will the dealer repair the subcro gears under lifetime powertrain warranty?

I'll give you 10 to 1 odds they secured it with duct tape and monkey glue...

I think I know why you got this problem, and I already seen why...

http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17101

After removing the tie-wrap, I tried to pull on the cable, and it came out of the bracket toot easily for me to be comfortable. So I placed another tie-wrap (do I spell that right?) Cable tie.

Maybe you have the same weak bracket problem. You can see the cable easily when you remove the air filter box. Maybe add a little cable tie for the heck of it?

I'll give you 10 to 1 odds they secured it with duct tape and monkey glue...
You were sooooo close!

The orange bracket is part of the linkage. The cable tie is the white kind. Everything else is brand new and not modified.

Seems to be a history of Clutch problems posted on the forum mainly for 2008 patriots.
I too have experienced clutch problems with my New Patriot 2.2 CRD LTD. Purchased December 2010 Total Clutch failure february 2011 (Warranty replacement ) back in again already with further problems Clutch apparently not clearing properly..... No offroading as yet so no possible cause there. Has anybody had similar problems with simialr aged Patriots - or offer any advice as to my options with such a new car?
