I have a 07 jeep patriot with an auto CVT tranny. i installed an AEM short ram intake with a heat shield. The problem is that the RPM does not go past 3.5 when I'm driving. Any ideas??

There is a rev limitler when I'm in N or P that limits me to 3500rpms but when I'm driving if I autostick it down it let's me go up to 6000-6100redline. Might be a computer glitch dealer?

Hey what do you mean by autostick? I just bought this patriot like 2months ago...is that a function that all patriots have??

2007 models did not get the autostick. That was a new feature on 2008 and up models. I would start by retracing your AEM install. Perhaps you accidentally knocked off a wire connection or something? I know there is a vehicle speed speed sensors wire somewhere around there...does the speedometer still work?

Indeed, that sounds like a mass O2 sensor to me. Something similar happened to me in my Xterra when a mass O2 sensor was inadvertently left disconnected by a Midas tech after a courtesy check. Stop by an Advance Auto and ask them to put a code reader on your Jeep; it may throw a code and identify the issue.

The 16 litre Cummins diesels that I work on have a lockdown mode that prevents the truck from running at more than an idle just to get back to the shop whenever an emmisions device is not working properly. Sounds like a similar symptom, like what Teecat suggested.

It sounds like it's in "limp" mode to me. I'd be looking at that air intake.

Yes, the speedometer works fine. The patriot accelerates well from 0 to about 50. After that it still accelerates but not with the same force and obviously that's where the RPM gets stuck at 3.5. Yea i will definitely check out the intake. Now that you mention it the only thing I can think of is that there was a wire zip tied to the inlet tube. I had to cut off the zip tie to remove the old inlet tube. I don't know if that may have something to do with it. ( I doubt it)
