I don't seem to have a problem at all with this offroading. I don't do anything real extreme, I have other vehicles for that. If I were you I would just go with the FD1 and try to import the front bumper fascia and inner bumper. That would make it possible to add tow hooks. These are one of the most important parts in offroading. If you get stuck you need somewhere to get pulled from. I just think if wouldn't be worth the extra cost of importing a FDII. What kind of offroading will you be doing? What are some other things you plan on doing with your Pat?

    Hi Koolkatken,
Just saw that you are driving a FDI handshifted Patriot. I thinking to get a patriot too. I am not sure if I should try to import a FD II from the states or if I just just get a FDI with a handshifted 6 speed transmission and the VW engine. 310NM of torque and an incredible fuel economy. Are you getting along with the handshifted transmission (without low gears) when it comes to off roading??? I'd appreciate if you would give me your opinion. Thankx in advance...

As for tires I would recommend General Tire AT2's. There are a few people that have them and love them plus they look great. These WILL be my next tire when mine wear out. As for wheels I would stay with 16" wheels. I have stock 15" wheels from the early model Wranglers and Cherokees. I had to modify the front calipers to make the wheels fit. I got my wheels and tires for free so it was worth it for me. I powder coated my wheels black. I like the look of the Crager Soft 8's. And the price is quite nice for these. These are a steel wheel and won't corrode like aluminum wheels will with road salt. For size I would check the knowledge base for tire sizes. Hope I helped you with your question. Good luck with your future move. Colorado is a nice place, where about are you moving to. I went Elk hunting there a few years back around the Steamboat Springs area.

Heyy, I also have a white Pat and im looking to put new tires and black wheels on it. I know I want bigger tires but Im not too sure how big I can go without lifting it. And the fact that its only a 4x2 kind of limits me also. Any recomendations on the rims as well would help too. BTW any advice on good all season tires? Im from FL but will soon be moving to CO and Im clueless when it comes to winter.

KKK83, Hey can you give us some insight to your mesh grill? I've been trying to figure out how to do it, but with the top 2 inches blocked, I couldn't tell how to get the mesh up to the top. any advice?

Hello & thanks for comments( You learn something new every day) I would have thought that adding a Diesel engine & Part/Filt to US Pat wouldnt add a prohibitive cost to PAT.Maybe the added USA sales this would bring would bring price down to a reasonable level--- Hey but what do I know??? Take Care...Pete!!
