I just ordered a jeep patriot sport 4x4 through the special military car sales. Everything is looking good except one thing. After reviewing the styles of the wheels I am liking the 17" rims much more than the 16" that I chose. Its now too late for jeep to install the 17"ers. I now have to either call the dealership where the car is being sent, and ask them to change my wheels for me or chose custom rims of my own. Does anyone know any nice rims that would work with the sport, and don't empty my wallet?

Don't forget that changing tire size will effect the speedo reading. Not by much though. Here is a neat little calculator

I'm not sure it will.If he gets the 17 inch rim then the tire wall on that 17 rim will be just a bit shorter and I believe the total diameter of the original Patriot 16 and 17 inch wheel is exactly the same as a result.Important is of course to put the proper size of tire on that rim,it should be the same tire as the manufacturer recommends.

In another thread, it was mentioned that the size and make of tire is programmed into the computer. This allows not only the correct ratio for the speedo/odo but also for proper response by the ABS and ESP systems. So, it appears that any tire that has a 27 - 28" diameter would work providing that you have it programmed for that tire. I'm mulling over the idea of using the 16" steel wheels for snow tires and getting 18" alloys for summer tires (P215/55R18) like on the Compass Limited.
the brand of tire will not matter. As long as the outside diameter (meaning where the tread is) is the same, the speedometer will be accurate. For example, on my car it came stock with 195/70-14 tires and its currently rocking some 215/45-17 tires. Even though the wheel size changed, the width of the tire and sidewall thickness of the tire changed, the speedometer is nearly dead on to stock because the outside diameter is the same.
Without checking that link above, the best tire size calculator Ive found is the Miata Tire Size Calculator (google that).
edit.. I dont know if the Patriot will show up yet, but I got my wheels from Wheelmax.com for $810 shipped. That included tires, wheels, locking lugs, mount and balance as well. I have gunmetal 17" wheels with polished lip. So basically, you can get good deals off that site if they have stuff that will fit the Patriot.

I think that it would look good with blacked out rims- Five Spoke- if you got a black pat

I ordered mine from AAFES in Europe. I will pick it up when I rotate back to the states. How did like the service with AAFES? I thought they were pretty cool, however it's early days yet.

gonna get them for 136$ CAN. each. 16 inches- """7 BRANCH"""....like Jeep
i chose 16 inches wheels to put the original tires on them, and put the winter tires on the jeep steel rims.

Those look nice Claudius, would love to see pics of it.
I really like the 'fighters' in a gun metal. Even like the Zen's black on a black truck like mine.
