: Where to buy the silver/argent/chrome bumper

Hello guys, I checked in two day ago. I'm from Mexico and just bought a Sport (4x2) Patriot. It comes with the standard bumper (same color as the rest of the vehicle), and it seems that there are no Patriot accesories yet available in Mexico. I really dig the silver/argent/chrome bumper, and was wondering if any of you could find for me where to buy one (and have it shipped to Mexico). I was also looking for a foldable organizer for the trunk...
Thanks in advance!

Are you serious Flevy?I just posted a question in the general category about the silver bumper.I think it looks like a children's toy with the silver bumper.
It's your choice I would dare to say that most Patriot owners actually prefer the uniform colour .

You are correct about that... however I actually prefer the silver accented bumpers on my Limited. Uniform color is not only boring, but because there is so much plastic, the uniform color doesn't accentuate the styling. If I could get full real chrome bumpers for it, I would. :pepper:

Real chrome bumpers? Now there is a thought! I might have a new found respect for them if they were actually brushed aluminum or whatever but I prefer the black accent look, myself but that is because I want my pat to look tough and fierce and ready for anything! I'm not really a "I spent a lot of money on this car and by gosh I want to enjoy it in style and class" kind of girl, but I think that is just me :)

i agree. if i cant accept it on the Limited, i might as well paint it black the same time i paint the gas tank.

My guess is that a lot of Limited owners will be removing these argent plastic Fisher-Price decorative strips off their front bumpers. If you wait a few months you'll probably be able to buy a used one off Craigslist. :D

Believe it or not, there used to be a time when all Jeeps had chrome bumpers. And no one would've accused any of those jeeps of not being ready for anything... ugh, KIDS!!

Ah-hem, if I weren't taught to respect my elders at a young age I would say...

"Your just jealous because my pat is gonna be better than yours (the second I get it!) with its snazzy new black bumper :p "

But instead I will say, really? really chrome bumpers? Was this during the same time that you had to walk to school uphill both ways barefoot in the snow?

Yeah, but back then they were actually made of steel and they were actually chromed. The bumper adornments on the Patriot are just plastic strips that have been painted "argent" to mimic the look of steel.

Yes, really real chrome bumpers...and real chrome trim.

Yes it was... only that you left out the part about fighting off grizzly bears with my spiral notebook. ;)

True enough. But Jeeps today have so much molded plastic on them that I find the complaints about the argent accent to be a bit odd. Plastic is plastic. Whether it is body colored or accented (black/silver).

Thanks to all for your comments, it seems the debate has gone a little bit further than I expected. To be honest, I have not been able to see and evaluate the "chrome bumper" in real life, because at my local dealership only Sport Pats arrived. I saw it in a brochure, and it looked cool to me, but most importantly, I thought of it as a protective "shield" for the rest of the bumper, because, if you have never been to Mexico, roads here are full of suprises (meaning stones, dead animals, debris, tons of bugs) and this accesory could prevent the bumper from damaging.
So...does anyone know where to get one, and maybe the price?
Thanks!

It's true they did have Chrome bumpers, I had one on my 1985 CJ7 plus I install a Chrome Grill, didn't look like a toy that's for sure not like the Patriot Limited bumpers, I perfer the painted bumper on my Pat, unless they come out with real chrome bumpers.:smiley_thumbs_up:

Yeah, I loved the chrome bumpers and trim on my family's old 88 Cherokee Laredo. That was a tough truck. Don't like the bumper trim on the new Limiteds. Wish the stock grill had some chrome trim though. Aftermarket here I come.

I posted a thread about removing the accented strips. I don't like them either.

THat was the main reason I didnt want a limited. but they wouldnt let me get mygig in a sport, so I got stuck with the silver bumpers and leather seats....I always like cloth. It really wasnt a price issue, I had ever option available on the sport plus the security option.....I had to remove that to bring the limited price down :(
btw I would like to find actual chrome to replace those strips

I just painted my silver Limited bumper covers flat black. A VAST improvement in my opinion. Pics soon.

mmm are you talking about the silver finished used in the limited version???

in Mexico and other countries, you can visit your local dealer and ask for the rear and front bumper cover (for limited, silver finished), but the cost is very different Mx vs USA.

For example, you can buy in USA the side windows deflectors in 100 dlls and Mexico is expensive: 2,200 pesos.

So, yes... the prices in mexico are very expensive, you need to check at ebay for all the stuff that you want and check if the dealer can send it to Mexico.
