Anyone in the NJ-PA area Wharton State Forest which is in the Pine Barrens in NJ about 30 min. from Atlantic City, they are having an event to help clean the area on some of the trails there this Sunday Oct26.
I should be finding out more info about it tonight, but when I did a Jeep Jamboree there a number of years ago it shouldn't be any problem for the Pat.
The only requirement as far as I know is to have a 4WD vehicle.
I'm going to try and make it there, as far as I know meeting time is approx. 945am.

Damn... a little more notice would have been nice! :p
I'd love to go, but I have a softball game that morning.

Well seems this is a pretty big "clean-up" event from what I've read on other sights.
People do illegal dumping of all kinds and this is a chance for folks to come and help keep the forest and trails clean. It's supposedley is broken up in to groups depending on equipment your driving to help bring out the garbage and get rid of it. Supposedley afterwards your treated to "wings and drinks".
There's supposed to be camping in the area along with hotels, and I'll see what I can find out about details about anything special needed for getting a group together to go wheeling there.

According to the evening news the Wharton Tract is still burning. It will be a messy job if working in the burned area.
FWIW, I've asked tazman to run point for me on planning a spring 2009 meet somewhere in the NJ Pine Barrens. We're going to work in the coming months on planning it as our first major JeepPatriot.com event.

Well back from the trail clean-up and the Pat made it through like a champ. Though the trail leader did kinda bust my chops, after making it through with no help needed he did ease up.
I did put it into 4x4, though it probably would've been ok without it, and going through the mud holes and sand was a non-event.
One of the other Wrangler drivers was also impressed, telling me he thought I was going to get stuck in one of the holes and surprised that I made it through with no problems :)
Hopefully next time there I'll get a chance to challenge it bit more but overall an A+
