With the baseball playoffs over with (in LA anyway), I have a few comp days (free days off with pay) and would like to take advantage of the time by taking my Patriot out on the offroads.
Can anyone suggest any trips (day trips or a couple of days) that I can take in the Southern California area? I'm primarily looking for places that are in the Mojave Desert and/or surrounding areas. I'm willing to go all the way down to the California-Mexico border if it's interesting enough.

Well....I use to spend alot of time working in the Inland Empire area of L.A...
I use to love the drive to Palm Springs...

there is a trail that goes from santa clarita to the 2 los angeles forest hwy its almost all dirt nothing too hairy it about 32 miles of ridge line trails there are other trails that branch off of it. Dont know where they go...I ran the trail in early march and got stuck in the snow! It most likely melted by now,but there are some great views on a couple spots you can see downtown LA and if it is clear enough the ocean. If you want to check it out I know two ways to get there.
