: Seats
tristavia 03-25-2007, 07:54 PM So I ended up getting the sport edition of the Pat for a bunch of reasons, one of which being that I really dont like the flashy looking silver bumpers, don't Jeep buyers typically pay more for their bumpers to match, not less? Anyways, one thing that I am not entirely sure about though is the seating options, because you cannot get leather seats as an option on the sport I had to end up with the heated cloth ones but I'm not sure if its what I want or not yet. Does anyone know if/when jeep might start selling the seats alone? I'm sure they will eventually because they will have to be able to replace broken ones. Alternatively, if anyone has the Limited and wants cloth seats (hey I know a good handful of people that hate leather) give me a holler!
george 03-28-2007, 11:46 AM The second dealership here in NC that I visited offered to order the Patriot Sport with cloth seats and replace them with leather seats once it got to the dealership. I believe that it would have cost about $2000, and may have been done by a custom interiors shop near the dealership that they do work with.

I prefer cloth, but wasn't happy with how the cloth felt on the Patriot, so went with the Limited instead.
Custom leather is usually a good way to go. I had it put in my last car for ~ $1500... higher quality stuff, Israeli I believe. It didn't include a leather steering wheel, though they did wrap it with leather. But that just wasn't the same to me, I had the dealer replace it with a real leather wheel for ~ $500 more.
My only bitch about the Pat's leather is that the steering wheel leather is too hard. Their's is also not top notch leather, but that is expected for a less-expensive SUV like the pat and is good enough.
nearly.normal.jimmy 07-23-2007, 08:31 AM Only a very small percentage of the Limited's seats are actual leather. The rest is vinyl. Including he steering wheel.
Jim
The bumper thing confused me too... The silver on the rear isnt so bad, but the front bumper should really be color matched.
Well, that answers why the 'leather' is so hard on the steering wheel...
pfontainejr 07-24-2007, 10:03 AM my sterring wheel is leather...

I don't think they could call it a leather wrapped steering wheel if it wasn't leather.

Well they sure don't have a problem calling it a 'full size spare'. ;)
Yes. My apologies. The steering wheel is wrapped in a lower leather grade pleather.
Sorry about that. My bad, I was all wrong there. Castigate, chastize and more...
It's a stretch calling that material 'leather'. But I guess it is.
The seats are still only made up of small patches of leather.
I don't know here! If the outer part of the seats are vinyl and only that smaller, inside area is leather (the outer is darker color than the inner on my Pat), my steering wheel seems to be the exact same material as the outer part of the seats. So that would make it vinyl.
If you feel the seats you will definitely notice a difference in material between the inner (leather) part of the seats and the other material, which appears to be the same as the wheel's. I don't know what's up, but the wheel feels more like vinyl to me.
EDIT - After really comparing them this morning, I think the steering wheel isn't the same type material as the vinyl. It's the same color, but the actual material feels slightly different. So I guess Jeep could indeed have used leather on the wheel... cheap stuff but leather.
