I've been scouring the area pretty heavily as of late for a nice little "beginner trail rig" to beat around in this fall/winter. I'm not too picky about model. I've owned an 84 XJ as my first car (it blew up a few weeks later), and my Patriot replaced my 95 ZJ. I have a budget of around $2000, but the lower the better (that way I can start modding right away!).

So far I've found these two as major possibilities:

My buddy in NM has a Jeep that looks like the same body style
as that picture you posted "Cherokee I think". He just bought a Saturn VUE
& I know he is wanting to sell his jeep. I am not sure of the details

The Maryland Jeep Club tends to list a lot on their forums. I've seen some XJs and CJ's go cheap.

That wrangler looks good for the price. It's a great beginning trail rig and you can upgrade when you feel the need or as things break.

Wrangler sold today before the guy could call me back.

If you were closer my brother is selling his 96 XJ since he got his WJ.
