I just picked up my new patriot last night and on the way home I noticed a crackling noise (sounds the same as if you get too close to some home stereos with a cell phone) occassionally coming from the drivers door speaker. I'm sure I will be calling the dealer this morning to let them know about it. I might be crazy but I think it only happened when I was turning the wheel to the left

maybe wiring problem if u have the audio controls on your steering wheel?

i used to have an 88 mazda 929 that would cut out similar to that when I turned to one side.

if it only happens when u turn to one side my guess would be a short somewhere

i have an 07 Patriot. when the radio is playing the speakers will pop an they will go out. the only way they will come back on is if i turn the truck off an then start it back up after 30 sec.

Jay - I also have an 07 and after one replaced under warranty, it failed again. I decided to change the four speakers. Factory ones are really the cheap of the cheapest. I'm happy with my JBLs.

Same here but I haven't noticed any difference when turning. I think I blew the drivers door speaker... it still works but [lightly] crackles sometimes. I plan on replacing them anyway so I'm not even contacting the dealer for a replacement.

If you are considering replacing them the speaker grilles just pop right off (i.e. no need to remove the door panel), remove 4 screws, put the new ones in. Done.

That would be weird if it keeps happening only when you make a left turn.

I did have my drivers door speaker replaced because it was blown. Never played it real loud and there was no obvious tear in the cone. It rattled pretty good on low notes. Was replaced under warrenty and sounds fine. I actually replaced it myself rather than wait all day since the shop was busy. Easy to do.

Hi, i'm new here, just bought a 2010 , the north edition. I immidiatly notice the poor quality of the speakers.....First thing i'd like to do, is to change the originals speakers for better ones. Someone could explain to me how to procced, don't want to break anything...Pictures would be super! Also, i'd like to know if the size of the front and rear are 6x9?
PS: excuse my bad english, not my first language...:)

The speakers arent hard to change out. The grill just pops off and after unscrewing the four bolts and pulling the two wires they are out. I believe that 6x9 is correct. There are several threads from folks swapping out speakers in the Audio section. You should be able to find about anything you want to know in there. Good Luck!

How hard is it to change the speakers? I'd like to do this myself eventually (as I'm sure mine will end up blowing over time) and would like to know whether it is simply a matter of unscrewing the existing speakers and putting new ones in or whether it requires some hardcore wiring.

Not sure if you've read the above posts by thjeep but that is basically it. I have not replaced mine yet but I've done some research and popped the grille off to see whats in there. And yes they are all 6x9's.

1. Remove the speaker grilles (no need to remove the entire door panel). Use something to wedge in there (preferably hard plastic that wont scratch the plastic grille or door panel), working your way around the speaker grille, and they pop right off.

2. Remove the screws. There are 4 screws for each speaker. Apparently they are 2 different sized screws so remember where each size goes.

3. Remove old speaker and replace with new.
3a. (recommended)There are wiring harnesses that you can use to just 'plug n play'. Some places (crutchfield.com) provide them w/ purchase.
3b. You can hard wire them by splicing the wires. (This is the method used in older vehicles that don't have a speaker wiring harness.)

Good luck!

Thanks! The moment even one speaker starts pissing me off, I'll go get the loudest ones I can and install them.
