Like the original off-roading Willys, the Izis features body-on-frame architecture and a very small gasoline engine. In the case of the Izis, that engine comes from Peugeot and displaces 1.4-liters, good enough for 75-horsepower, just a bit more than the 60 horses of the classic Willys Go Devil engine.
The Izis is street-legal in Europe, as its Peugeot engine is fully Euro 4-compliant, though the vehicle has a Euro NCAP rating of only two stars....
An electric version is also said to be available. No information on specifications are provided other than a suggested electric-only range of 90 kilometers, or about 56 miles.
NickelPlate 10-04-2008, 06:02 PM Interesting little car. Although at only 75hp, I'd hardly call it competition for anything jeep makes now ;). 6 slot grill. Another picture here:

When you think of it, how many of us 'need' more than 75 HP? I 'want' more than 75 HP to get to work, but I don't think I 'need' more. Besides, the Jeep's 60 HP took us from Germany to Japan and back stateside.

Very true. I was just referring to "today's" Jeeps. You're right the original Jeep only had 60hp and did just fine.

jepstr67 10-04-2008, 07:20 PM My Willys wagon with 100 HP is fine with me. So 75 for a pint size vehicle like that should be fine for drivers like me. I wish I could get an electric one here.
ImNoPrince 10-04-2008, 09:01 PM That would be a great City Driver for the Kid next year as she turns 16 . I would like it in Electric as well.
jeep_creeper 10-04-2008, 09:21 PM They really look like they went after every styling cue they could steal from Jeep.

I suspect this "75 hp" will act very much like yesterday's 100+ hp engine, both in fuel economy and performance. Mercedes and BMW have been squeezing out extreme amouts of power and performance from small engines for years!
Bull3tMagn3t 10-05-2008, 03:33 AM Paint it green, lower the windshield, and mount a .50 calibre to the cross beam and I might be sold. :)

My thoughts exactly! I'd say Jeep could make a case for infringement of some kind... Seriously, have some originality!
How much does it weight? If it is only around 2000 pounds, then 75 HP may work were, but a more realistic 3000+ pounds and that thing work not work for my locations were you are climbing hills and in danger of getting crushed by a coal truck if you are going too slow. It would be agood city vehicle I am sure, but then what's the point of it having a 4x4 system and ground clearance? I kind of like what it looks like behind the hood, but not the fender/front end style. Anywho, speaking of Jeep ripoffs, check this one out...

http://jalopnik.com/5058838/china-automobile-france-displays-kiff-looks-like-jeep-hurricane-not-futurama-character, called the Kiff from China, it was at the Paris autoshow, even worse with the power with a 69 HP 3 cylinder, but it looks like a light little dunebuggy and would guess it is a heck of a lot lighter (and smaller) than the Wallysworld knockoff. The do say that impersonation is the GREATEST form of flattery, maybe Jeep should be flattered? LOL
pdxbubba 10-05-2008, 04:07 PM For an example of what a 2-digit HP 4x4 is capable of just look at the unstoppable Pinzgauer 710 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOKIeaqtPzY). The little air-cooled 4 cyl engine will do more than 90% of the Jeeps out there... all with seating for 11!
jepstr67 10-05-2008, 06:30 PM A friends dad did some wacky stuff when he was young and one thing he said some friends did was strip down a Cadillac and record the speed they could go. They started with the stock Cad. Which will do about 130 MPH from the factory.
They kept taking parts off until all they had was the front bench seat, the firewall and windshield, and enough body to hold the radiator in place. I believe he said they were well up over 200 MPH without all the extra weight. This is what scientists do for fun. He then went on to describe n detail the exact amount of speed each pound cost and other data that was collected during the "experiment".
If a vehicle is light enough, it requires very little power to move it.

That is one determined little truck.
