Any one having issues engaging the reverse gear with a manual tranny.. Every once in a while I engage it and I heard some grinding of the gears when i hit the gas... not sure why is does not engage properly all the time.. Im worried this will wear out my reverse gear at a much fater rate.... Let me know if this is common with the patriots or if I should take it to the dealer and complaint!!!

This topic was discussed a little while ago. Use the search link for more detailed instructions, but I found if you gently put your stick in reverse, and if you can feel it's not all the way in, put it back to neutral, and try again gently, that usually does the trick for me, without having any gear grinding. Hope that takes care of your problem and concern:)

It's been brought up several times. Put the stick in reverse with the clutch disengaged(pushed in) and engage it just a little bit and it should pop right into gear

thanks for the quick reply... yeah i searched and found a few post with the issues usually talking about 08 and 09s... i would have imagine chrysler will have picked up on this and fix it...i guess not... ill start to be carefull from now on... Should I call chrysler and report anyways?
