I'm in Charlevoix and was told 2 - 3 weeks more than 2 months ago. I've been driving Jeeps since '79 (Grand Wagoneer), but my eye is beginning to stray with this delay.

Raising my hand as well. I am in the U.P just bought our Patriot on Wednesday. I am very excited the Husband and I thought we where going to have to wait another year but the dealer was having a special so we got one. Does not have all the features I wanted but over all we are very happy so far!

We just put the downpayment on our Pat last Saturday. The plan is to pick it up tonight and they had to get it from New York. We got it from HZ in Grandville ... absolutely loved working with them ... and we live in Allendale. My husband and I just moved to West Michigan last August for his job in Grand Haven and I work for a law firm downtown. I wasn't sure how I'd feel coming from Nashville, but over the weekend at least, the Pat made the snow much more enjoyable!! I can't wait to pick up our new silver one tonight!!

Another in the GR area now (where I work), or in the UP (where I play). Picked it up last Saturday after test driving though a foot of packed snow in my yard. I think it's going to work just fine for me, especially if works as well on muddy or sandy two tracks as it does in the snow.

New Compass owner. I prefer the Patriot, but Compass was cheaper. Live in Commerce, work in Livonia. Born & raised in Metro Detroit (Shelby Twp).

I drove to Cleveland to pick it up yesterday as there aren't many 5-speed 07's around.

We are only in MI for part of the year - will be snowbirding in FL to avoid the white stuff.

2nd, what drivetrain did you have before and what has been the relative fuel economy improvements?

APT, first Patriot was a Limited 4x4 with FD-II and the CVT trans. No matter how I drove it, loaded it, whatever, it never did better than 19.5 mpg. Current Patriot is pulling around 25 mpg and the motor is still green...only have 750 miles on it. On another subject, I spend some time in your area...relatives have a lakehouse on White Lake.

APT
05-06-2008, 04:22 PM
Glad you are happier with your 2nd Patriot. Summarizing peoples' experience, I tend to say the FDII gets about 10% worse than FDI CVT which is about 10% less than 5-speed's. 2WD 5-speed has about 11% taller 5th gear than the FDI 5-speed. I feel that 80mph @ 3400rpm is higher than it needs to be.

What made you change vehicles? Accident? Just sold/traded it the 1st Pat?

Living between the two state parks, I'm all over White Lake, Commerce, Wixom, and to a lesser degree Highland and Milford.

1st Patriot was my company car. Only keep those for a limited amount of time and, despite popular folklore, the company car program isn't all that inexpensive (I work at Chrysler HQ). The one I'm driving now I actually bought. Between my employee discount and the incentives that were offered in April it was too good of a deal to pass on. I agree on the RPM's...at 80mph my old Patriot was turning 3500. Current one turns just under 3000.

APT
05-06-2008, 09:37 PM
My wife works in Auburn Hills @ CTC, too. We had two vehicles a few years ago through the employee/management lease program and haven't been since. Not really cost effective, as you say.

My son works at Tech Center and lives in Highland too. Last month brought a Nitro with 6.1 Hemi home for weekend. Very fast and very thirsty for Premium fuel. Glad I have Patriot that gets 30 MPG, Only thing is keeping it clean on gravel roads that have been chlorided. Oldest son also bought a Patriot in Inferno Red, He lives in Hartland, Michigan. We are a Chrysler Family. Youngest son now has my Neon R/T as his ride. (34 MPG)

Hey, Rick, how are those ORV trails? I usually go up to Mio/Bull Gap area. I only get to go a couple times a year, and there are lots of trails to not get bored. I'd like to try some different ones, especially if they are closer to Metro Detroit.

The Leota ORV trails aren't too bad. Kind of narrow though in a lot of places.
Seems that they are more for ATV's and dirt bikes rather than Jeeps. There are a lot of great fire trails around there though.

Northern Michigan? You live below the bridge. Just kidding I know you folks in mid-michigan like to fancy yourselves as being from up north. I couldn't resist. I would have to drive 6 hours to get down to your neck of the woods?;)

"Algonac, Michigan, Fun and Fish." I purchased a Sunburst Orange Compass for my wife in 08, I liked it so much I traded my 07 PT Cruiser Convertible for an 09 Patriot and never looked back. Both 2.4l, cvt, Sport, 4x2, 32mpg hwy. I caught the "Memorial Day Sale" this time and with all the incentives I grabbed it. 2200 miles on it and very happy with it. I see a lot more Pats on the road now. You could never find one before,07-08. "Go Blue." gk

I'm in Clinton Township, had not seen this post until today. Picked up mine during the cash for clunker deal, really good deal for me! I have a Liberty and am using that for more of my day to day and going up North type of things, like kayaking. I did get a rack for the Pat but took it off since it whistles! I can easliy put it back on when needed. So far I have been babying the Pat and have not taken it off road, waiting for some of the 'new' to wear off!

Try Golling at Sq Lake & Telegraph, Southfield CJ at Tel-12 or Shuman in Walled Lake.

Golling probably has the most inventory. Lot of Chrysler rebate money & deals until 1/4/10, although I'm sure there are more deals coming.

OK, near Jackson Mi, and also Tampa Florida area for winters but a new owner now. Have owned many different vehicles but first Jeep.

2010 White Sport FWD CVT 2.0 with sun & sound pkg plus a few other items. Stain proof seats, rear window defroster, all air bags side & front, and can't remember the rest. Just got it Tuesday this week. Haven't done much yet but get the muffler blacked out first thing. Having someone do some moderate pin striping next week, should change the plain sides somewhat. Also putting a black rub (?) strip on each side to stop door dings (I hope). It also will be flat black and plan on putting it same as on the Latitude. Don't have many miles on it yet, about 200 or so but will be taking it to Florida in a few weeks so that will give it a real road test and hopefully good fuel mileage.

How-do from Fraser, central Macomb Co...picked up a silver '08 Sport (4x2, 2.4, CVT ) this week at Southfield CJD...good people...replaces a '98 Chevy Venture with 164-K on the clock...(I run 'em into the ground..bought it 5 1/2 yrs ago with 68-K!) Losing some cargo space, but gaining some MPGs...nice not having to spend over $50 to fill the tank.

This will be my daily driver/grocery getter/head Up North vehicle...so far, so cool...love the pickup and the smooth-shifting CVT...(I was turned on to it when I rented a Compass on a trip to Jacksonville FL a couple years ago.)

Just had Belle Tire slap on a set of Hankook Optimo 727's on the recommendation of another post and reviews from tirerack.com. Rides. Like. A. Dream. :pepper:

Up next, a Draw-Tite trailer hitch for the bike rack before taking it to Torch Lake for our August vacation....:Racing:
