Rubber, and not these:

http://www.leeparts.com/jeep_patriot/accessories/interior/slush_style_floor_mats.html (if this pic is accurate for the Patriot)

The factory ones have a diamond tread plate style, and a locating hook.

Carpet: http://www.leeparts.com/jeep_patriot/accessories/interior/carpet_floor_mats.html

Also, have seen both on eBay.

I noticed that the floor mats for the sport and the ones for the limited were different on the order form (sport got all weather mats and limited got luxury mats) does that mean that the sport gets the rubber ones and the limited gets carpeted ones?

Go rubber - in these rainy months, you'll appreciate not having to clean mud out of the carpet. Besides, the rugged look feels more appropriate.

So far I cannot locate "factory" slush mats for the '07 models, I found some for the Patriots built in '06 ?? Would like to get a pair for my '07. The carpeted mats come up very short and don't go up near the firewall at all. Guess I have to wait or get the aftermarkets as above...:(

if you can, get the rubber. When it is snowy with all the slush and salt, you wont want the carpet

Check out Husky Liners (http://www.huskyliners.com/home.cfm). I have these in my 2004 Liberty and they are amazing. Will be getting them for my Patriot, once it arrives. They offer superior protection over any OEM floor mats I've ever owned--the carpeting in my Liberty looks like it was never used. My dad just bought a new RAV4 and liked the Husky Liners in my Jeep so much, that he got some for his RAV. I've recently contacted an engineer at that company because Husky Liners for the Patriot were not listed. We corresponded back and forth over the past few weeks and learned that the Compass and Patriot floor pans are identical as is the shape of the cargo floor area, and these liners are molded to exactly fit the floor pan. Husky Liners now has the Patriot applications listed on their website. I have some great pictures of them actually in place in a Patriot, but for some reason I can't get them to upload with either Firefox or IE7.

The prices vary a bit depending on where you purchase from but are about $65 per pair. Check Husky Liners website...they don't sell directly, but will have a listing of online and brick-and-mortar retailers who sell their products.

If you notice for the back the liner actually covers the cupholders, thats awesome. I cant tell you how many times I have had a middle rider in our car and their feet all over the cup holders.

That picture was just for the purposes of providing an example. I don't think they would manufacture a mat that covers the cup holders.

check out www.jparts.com
18%off and free shipping w/orders over $75

althought Husky floor mats are superior ot OEM, they also run around $126 (10%off) whereas OEM are around $48.
....heck, you could get the slush AND carpet mats for less then the Husky's!!!

AmyK,
The Husky Liners do not cover the cup holders in the Patriot...the rears for the Patriot are two separate trays. The rears in my Liberty do cover the "hump" in the rear floor because there is some distance between the rear of the console and the front of the rear seat bottom. This is minimal in the Patriot.

Here are some pics of the Husky Liners in place. The Cargo Liner here is from a Compass. The Compass has the same shape cargo area as the Patriot.

I have the factory rubber mats as well. I have a pic of them in my gallery for those wondering what they look like.
