before the storms hit us. Hanna that is!
Took the Pat, the owner(wife) and T-Bear out for some 60 miles of FL hardpack and puddles. First day of bow season so we saw a lot of hot camo boyz, but not one kill. GO DEER!!!
The pic is this stream I want to cross when it isn't flowing at 18". This would sweep a Pat right off its feet. Someday!
Happy holidaze from SoFLA.

Wait, doesn't 18 inches qualify this as a prime test subject for non-trail rated Patriots water fording ability?!

No Coast Guard approved safety gear, i.e. pfd. LOL
That stream has a good current when it is up, and it is about one Jeep length at that depth, 30-feet to make it across. It has easy entry and departure angles, but the current will get a Pat at that depth.
Our Pat still needs hooks and a come-along for rescue purposes, but even then we would lose this battle.

oh, come on.... unless it's muddy you can make that crossing, especially with the lift.

Just go with a buddy, or maybe walk across first to check for deep holes or big rocks. doesn't look like there are any to me.

We have a depthfinder, doesn't everyone? I walked in with the dog, no holes, even has a truck mat as this is a high-tension power line service road. The issue is the current! The road is actually a dike built from the dredgings of the canal to the west side of the road. Here in FL the canals are for drainage purposes.....it is working!
The bottom of the door is about 12-13" up off the ground, so if you take a current on the body you are gone.
It will be crossed some time, but it will have to let up a bit first. This isn't my '93 GC were are talking about here.

good idea! I like the measuring stick. I didn't catch the 18" deep part.

Hey now, dig that gauge. Great idea!

Been using a depthfinder for a while, beats drowning. LOL
The door sill lip is about 17"s high, but the 4x2s don't have extra sealing like the FDII package. I would prolly keep the fording to less than 17"s. I get sand coming out of the tops of the strut mounts into the engine compartment just from blasting 10-12" puddles. The plastic belly splash pan seems to be doing a good job for the rockless landscape of SoFLA. The crushed shells are putting micro nicks in the paint of the rear flares. Some of the powerline roads can be cruised at 50 mph, just don't be surprised by a deer or a boar or a panther.

I have taken some water in under the doors... looked shallower than it was :D

I wasn't real worried about getting across... but I was worried when the engine & radiator started steaming from all the water that splashed up into it (and through the grill).
