: What's with CRD

I'm new here. Picked up our diesel Limited two weeks ago. (it's officially the wife's car. she picked it)

I thought it was very strange that it had a big CRD emblem on the back. CRD stands for Common Rail Diesel, however, the VW engine in the Patriot is a Unit Pump Injection (PD) diesel, not a CRD.

Bit of an oversight by jeep.

I also thought it strange that the service interval is 10,000 km. It is 15,000 km or 9000 miles elsewhere in the world. When this same engine is used in a Golf or a Skoda, it is 20,000 km !!!

Is Jeep Australia taking advantage of us?

I wondered the same when I picked up my CRD Patriot.

After having an Audi 1.9 TDi with a service interval of 2 yrs or 20,000 miles not Km's ...

I was confused to hear the 9,000 mile interval on the Patriot ... but oh well ...

12000 miles in England. I've had mine 12 weeks, done 7000 miles, head gasket's gone! Keep an eye on your coolant, and starting problems, and for sludge in the oil when you take filler cap off. I run mine in nice and steady, so there's no excuse. I hope you've got a better one.

9000 miles in uk not 12000. i made that mistake too. ALL our oil suppliers say its 12000 and it has a particulate filter. My sept 07 does not!!!!!

pisses me off to that VW/Audi is around 20000 with the proper job castrol oil that i use......

Its 20000kms interval in Norway too.

Jeep propbably thought CRD sounds cooler than some ancient name like TDI or D. :icon_rolleyes:
