Hello,
I'm glad I found this Patriot forum.I just purchased the Patriot few days ago but due to the shortage of this car I was told by the delaer I'll have to wait probably 6 to 8 weeks[ but it has to be the Jeep Green with a stick, most of the Patriots on the lots are automatics]
I must say that so far I'm very impressed with this good looking and well equiped Jeep. When I took it for the road test it felt so steady, strong and big.It felt like driving a huge SUV.You see I drive full size Ford Crown Victoria and this car felt almost bigger.I chose the 4x4 SPORT/NORTH package and for the first time of my 21 years in Canada I chose the standart transmission [in Europe where I come from just about everybody drives a standart transmission car].First of all I really didn't like the idea of CVT transmission [and yes I may be wrong] but secondly I felt that 4x4 would be more fun with the stick.Standart gearing gives us much better control of the vehicle and one can better negotiate those snowy hills,it helps the breaking,it can safe fuel if driven correctly.I also believe that the overall weight of standart transmission is less than the big automatic tranny and that's another bonus and yes, let's not forget about maintanance and longevity and again standart is a big winner in this department as well..
I do not wish to spend extra bucks for some luxury extras like heated and leather seats but I had to choose the 17 inch all terrain wheels. They just grip the road better plus they look great too.The 16 are just fine but the truth is that rims can change the appearance of a car quite a bit.
Oh yes,the one thing that I definitely miss at this handsome Jeep is the door moulding.I hate to see the doors dented by some frustrated ahole in an old junk bow who decides to kick his door open and dents the side of my car.
I hear that some body shops are able to install aftermarket mouldings on the doors.I certainly do not wish to stick some cheaply looking rubber on the car.
I have seen some european photos of the Patriot with auxiliary headlightes that are fatsened to the front bumber ,it looks so cool and so I may have to put some Hella powerfull lights on the front.DO I need them?Maybe couple times a yer when I travel to Quebec or Newfoundland but even then I can get by without them.I just have this thing for extra powerfull high beams, maybe it's the little kid in me that loves to watch Rallye Monte Carlo where the extra ligts do such a great job.
And another thing I can think of right now,I'll have to still find out how much power I can suck out of the AC 115 V outlet which is posisioned under the front centre armrest.I plan to run short extension cord out of it and plug AA battery charger plus run the video camera out of that source.I looked around the net but didn't find any detailed specs on this plug.
Anyways ,I 've written so much tonight.I'm just very excited about this car, that's all folks.Good night, Belveder
