There will be a nomination process and then the voting will begin! This month will be a VERY QUICK nomination and voting process so be sure to check back frequently! Nominations will be taken until midnight, Friday, August 22nd. Afterwards, the the voting will run for a week (which will include the top four members who received the most nominations)!

I am one of the people that voted for your nomination, I read the rules and interpret it to be anyone who owns an MK (Patriot or Compass).
Your Compass is more modified than most of our Patriots and you participate regularly on this forum.

As much sense as it might make, I think I'm going to put forth my 2 cents and say that I feel this contest should remain PATRIOT of the month rather than expanding it to Compass owners as well. How about an honorary award for Jeepster55 or for any non-Patriot owners?

I disagree. I think a major part of the award is based on how much a person adds to this forum. Lets face it we all have pretty much the same Patriot short of a few who have done some major mods. Sure we have all added our own little touches.

I see where you're coming from... but if that's the case then we shouldn't even call it Patriot of the month... instead Site Member of the month or something. If you expand the award to Compass owners then you also have to expand it to those who own neither a Patriot nor a Compass (so long as they contribute substantially to the forum).

I see both sides, here...

For this month at least, we will keep the rules as they are stated and only allow Jeep Patriots to be members of the month, but I am going to mull over a change to that rule. While this site is called "JeepPatriot.com" the information here is useful to all MK owners and all MK owners are able to contribute. Therefore it would be fitting to include Compass owners in future contests.

A Compass owner winning "POTM" might seem a bit out of place, but if anything it is a testament to just how much they have contributed to the site. I'll most likely impliment this change to the rules next month. My apologies for not catching it sooner, Jeepster55!

gotta agree that it should remain Patriot owners for Patriot of the Month. Maybe start a "Poster of the month" or change the name to that. You would think that when you see "Patriot of the Month" you would see a Patriot that stands out from everyone else. vote goes to weatherman

while the Caliber is a very similar car, it's still a DODGE and it's NOT an "MK", but a "PM" platform. i thank you all for your support, but i fully understand your views. i think i even brought this issue up when you were discussing once the PTOM, without even thinking that you would ever nominate me.

as someone said, there ARE a few Compass owners on here that deserved recognition. not sure I'M one of those but so be it. in any event, if you feel that the Compass owners deserve a special place on your forum, dedicated to them as you do, then you should include them in your voting. there's no special section for Caliber owners, but should there be one day, then they too should be included.

All contests have rules and one of the rules of this contest is that ya have to own a Patriot. I see nothing wrong with that being a rule. Please don't think this means I don't find you worthy of the award Jeepster... because this has nothing to do with that! I just thought it was kind of cool that only a Patriot owner could win the award. It makes it extra special in my opinion.

Could just rename the competiiton/award to jeepPatriot.comOfTheMonth at some point.

I'm with Tasha. This site is called Jeeppatriot.com for some reason. I think only Patriot owners should be eligible. There are members of this forum who make very valuable contributions without even owning a Jeep (Rends comes to my mind, for example). If we're to change the rules, then the name of the "award" should be changed, too, to something like "Member of the month" or something like that.

And I suggest that the name be changed to "Jeep Patriot Of The Month" (JPOTM). Just "Patriot" can be a bit ambiguous.

I agree that the POTM award should be for patriot owners only. Its not that i dont appreciate all of the contrabutions that you all make, just that this is a site specifically for the patriot. We love having you all as members for sure!! However, i wouldn't go to a compass site and expect to be voted compass of the month being a patriot owner. It really can go both ways.

just what "special circumstances" would you allow voting for a non-Patriot owner member? i'm not pissing and moaning for myself, just that there are many Compass and probably OTHER Jeep owners on this forum that contribute and help other members that DO own Patriots and to simply brush them aside because they haven't rushed out and picked up your favorite MK really is kind of a slap in the face to them.

like i said, not complaining because of my nomination, only that if you open your forum to Compass owners as well by setting up their own threads, then you should include them in ALL activities. this forum has no problem 'taking' from Compass owners. but when it's time to show appreciation to someone (Gramps for instance) that has added something to this forum in the way of knowledge and experience then they can only be recognized IF they own a Patriot. sad.......

I know exactly how it feels to be on the other side of the debate with this one.

My last car was a 2003 corolla. As it turned out the toyota matrix and the pontiac vibe were the same chasis and parts. The corolla forum i belonged to was mostly just a bunch of kids that liked to post nothing related to the corolla itself. I then found the matrix forum and found that that was the best site for information and meets. Even tho i was a corolla owner i became a very active member in the site and made many how too's for different modifications i had done. I also went to meets with large groups of matrix owners. The rules were the same on that site as they are for our POTM. At first i was a little upset because i had spent more time contributing to the site than some of the winners, but later i realized that my contributions were appreciated regardless so it didnt even matter.

Unfortunately for all of the compass owners, the Patriot seems to be the more popular model. It probably has to do with the resemblence to the old cherokee's mostly.

Just remember, basically, all of the compass owners on here contribute more to the forum than a lot of the patriot owners and we thank and respect you all for it regardless of the POTM rules. :smiley_thumbs_up:

Everyone's imput is being noted... you can definitely expect some changes come next months nomination process. I just havent determined what those changes will be just yet!

Personally i feel compass should be included and it should be called forum vehicle or car or suv or whatever of the month heck you can call it forum member of the month for that matter... either way i thank everyone for this wonderful forum. it has been a wealth of info to me before and after i bought my pat!!
