: ANOTHER NEW COMPASS!
Afmcronnie 09-19-2011, 03:13 PM Sitting at the dealer right now. Roommate is trading in her 2010 Compass on a 2011 Compass. Edmunds and Autoblog be damned. She wanted a 430N media center like mine. Lol. Pics later.
Its a Jeep thing.
GhostRider 09-19-2011, 03:33 PM Wow.....she will probably take a good hit for her trade....unless the 2010 is all paid now...:)
the_jeep_now 09-19-2011, 04:36 PM Come on, couldn't you persuade her to get a Patriot? Who else would know better ;)
Afmcronnie 09-19-2011, 10:23 PM Couldn't talk her into a Patriot. "Too boxy", she says. Go figure. She really likes the look of the new Compass, and she just cant live without the 430N system after checking out mine. She didnt take much of a beating on her 2010. It had low miles and was MINT.(Thanks to the meticulous exterior maintenance done by her roommate) That charcoal Pearl really looks sharp in the sun with a good coat of wax. The local selection of colors was somewhat disappointing. Mostly black or white, which she refused to consider. 1 blackberry pearl, which I really liked, but she didnt. She settled for a silver one that they had to get from another dealer. Its a 2x4 sport with the 2.4L and CVT. 430N with the sun and sound package. They gave her $17K for her 2010 2x4 2.0L CVT and $2250 off list on the 2011. Not a bad deal, all told. The most interesting part about the trip to the dealer was looking at the 2012 Wranglers. They had a Sahara in that new Dozer orange. Very nice. They had it parked on a 45 deg ramp so you could see the undercarrige. I was not all that impressed. There's no skid plate under the engine or transmission, and that goofy looking donut pipe in the left side exhaust tract is GOING to get smashed by SOMEONE. No question.
joshtimber 10-06-2011, 04:08 PM There is no way to change the mind of a women if she had finalized anything in mind.
Afmcronnie 10-06-2011, 10:04 PM She's had it almost 3 weeks now. The more I look at it the more I like it. The lil fella really DOES look like a Grand Cherokee as a child. It seems to sit higher, more agressive, than her 2010. The front end re-work on the 2011 really looks good. My only criticism would be the look of those silly "fish eye" fog lights. They remind me of a candle behind a crystal ball. I havent seen them work yet, I suppose they function ok, if she can figure out how to turn them on. She bugs me everyday to show her something else with the Media Center.
mrJeepr44 10-06-2011, 10:22 PM Wish I could convince my wife to get a new Compass....

John Smeton 10-07-2011, 02:07 AM the 2011 compasses are very good looking and I would buy one. I saw one for the first time a month or so ago and double took because I thought it was a grand cherokee. Definitely looks more modern(if thats the word) or maybe upscale than the patriot.
That said think ill still opt for a Patriot and I am still keeping an open mind. Not writing it off just yet.
karlo 10-07-2011, 03:44 AM I also like the styling of Compass aside from my Pat.
tiptronic 10-07-2011, 08:55 AM 2x4 Lame ...Not a real Jeep then ????
Afmcronnie 10-07-2011, 06:27 PM Title says Jeep on it. It goes through snow better than any car she ever owned. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, its prolly a duck. She mostly don't give a rats anus what other people think, anyway. (including me, it seems...)

Congrats on the trade! I see a lot of the new ones tooling around town, and they look great. I'm still trying to talk my wife into getting one, but we are really trying to only carry one car payment st a time

So what kind of mileage are you getting with your 2011 Compass? I have an 08 Patriot 4X4 CVT with 114K on it. I want to replace it soon. Can't decide on a 2012 Patriot or Compass. I suspect the improved aerodynamics of the Compass would improve mileage over the 2012 Patriot. Any advice?
Jebrale 05-05-2012, 01:48 AM My only criticism would be the look of those silly "fish eye" fog lights.
Old topic I know :) but I gotta say, I REALLY like those fog lights on mine. They do kinda look fish-eyed now that you mention it, which will forever be stuck in my mind when I look at them now, but they do a great job of lighting the ground immediately in front of you. Helps at night when you're trudging through some deep snow, or the occasional midnight wheeling sessions! But of course their normal goal of just giving you more visibility at night in serious rain on the freeway is rather helpful since they light up those reflectors to the max!
Still, it would be nice if I could find a front grille to mount some offroad lights on for the Compass, but I havent found any that look nearly as good as the Patriot. :P Someday. :)
My only gripe is that I must have the license plate on the front and rear in WA. Would look a bit less "buck-toothed" without the silly thing sticking out.
I hope she likes her Compass still, I love mine!
