Hi All,
Just joined the forums as I am ordering a Patriot (ostensibly) for my wife. I am (we are, uh, she is) trading in a Subaru Forester with 260k on it. She wanted another Forester and I suggested she test drive a Patriot. Now we have decided on the Patriot.
On occasion over the last 8 years we actually used our cute ute for genuine off-highway adventures involving canoes, bicycles, backpacks and the like. We knocked off the exhaust a couple of times on trails, squashed the catalytic converter, and crumpled the lower front facia where the fog lamps used to be. We also used it to haul countless cords of firewood and move essentially our entire household, including a full sized refrigerator, recliner couch and hide-a-bed. (the roof rack on that thing was amazing)
My daily driver is a 2005 Legacy GT and I have picked up a nasty performance modification habit thanks to the folks at LegacyGT.com.
We also own a 1985 VW Westfalia Wolfburg Weekender that we store winters. I do a fair bit of work on it myself and I participate in numerous forums devoted to VW campers. Some summers it is more "working on" than camping.
I find joining automotive forums and becoming part of an online community helps me enjoy my cars a lot more and I am hoping for some advice on my (our, um, her) Patriot purchase.
